'Racist' job ads

Hold on one effing minute! Whites placing ads for "whites only" is racist - but government and companies placing the same ads for "blacks only" is NOT?!

A million kudos to VIP Placements for going against the grain. Hey, anyone wanting to place "whites only" ads can do it here. I'll be only to happy to oblige. I am not intimidated and I sure as f**k wouldn't stop until ALL discriminatory practices are abolished in SA. Dammit, this is utter crap!

Employer backlash against affirmative action surfaces.

  • If you are black and have two to five years’ experience in the food retail industry, don’t bother applying for this job — only “white males and females” will be considered “as per customers request”. “Buyer at Food Retail Family stores (5) — Must be a White Male or Female with at least 2-5 years min experience,” reads one of several discriminatory job adverts listed on job search engine Careers24.
Labour analysts have slammed such discriminatory adverts by recruitment agencies, as “racist”. (how brown-nosed are these people? )

VIP Placements is one of a growing number of recruitment agencies openly stating that certain jobs listed online will only be for “White males and females”. Wiebka Cooper, client services manager for a leading South African career search-engine, Career Junction, said it proved difficult to filter through all posts listed by recruitment agencies in order to monitor them.

“It is [bound to] the integrity of the person actually writing the advertisement” to ensure discrimination was not sanctioned. “Recruitment agencies are familiar with labour rule terms and that [white applicants only] is discriminatory,” said Cooper.

VIP Placements, which posted three discriminatory adverts for food retail industry applicants on Careers24 last week, said the white males or females description was “okay” for the search-engine. Karen Naude from VIP Placements told The Times: “I spoke to Careers24 and they said we could say we only wanted white applicants. It was a request from our clients. I can’ t say no to the client.”

But Careers24’s Michelle Basaro denied the claim : “We would never have said it was ‘okay’ to post that — there was a misunderstanding with VIP Placements. We don’t govern what goes into the advertisements and we can't filter through every advert on the site. The recruitment company writes that information on its own.”

Labour analyst Gavin Brown slammed the adverts: “You can’t discriminate on those terms; it goes against the Constitution, it is discriminating on racial grounds.” Speaking specifically about the role of the recruitment agency in situations such as this, Brown said: “They [VIP Placements] are under an obligation to advise their clients.” ('Gavin Brown', hmm, the name suits you brown-noser)

Danzel van Zyl, a senior researcher for the Human Rights Commission, said: “It contravenes all of these acts: the Constitution; the Employment Equity Act, as well as the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act.” (hey, apartheid had 'Acts' that were similarly discriminatory and that didn't make it right)

VIP Placements altered the adverts, removing the “white males and females” from them after inquiries from The Times. (wussies)
