Jeff’s response to Paul Harris

A letter from FNB’s Paul Harris to his mate “Jeff”, telling him not to be concerned about those in South Africa, had gone viral.  Many have responded to billionaire Harris, the kindest rebuttal being that from his elitist perspective, Harris has no clue about what the ordinary South African is facing or concerned about.  We first place Harris’ letter to Jeff and then Jeff’s brilliant response.  Lastly there is a rebuttal found without reference, but an equally excellent read.

from Business Day live, by Paul Harris:

Don’t stress about us in SA

paul harrisA letter from FirstRand founder and former executive Paul Harris to a concerned friend has gone viral. Here is an edited version:

Hi Jeff

HOPE all is well with you guys. I will drop you a line later with the family news but I would first like to respond to the e-mail you sent me attaching an article by Clem Sunter, which seemed to concern you about us here in South Africa.

You also sent me an article last year by Moeletsi Mbeki warning about the danger of an "Arab Spring" in South Africa. I often get e-mails like this from "concerned friends" worried about us, which is sweet of you guys. Of course we are concerned. Some worrying things have happened but we have been through and survived much worse in much more volatile environments. Including the Boer War, two World Wars, apartheid, the financial crisis without a bank bailout, the Rindapest, Ge Korsten and Die Antwoord!

However, for as long as I can remember there have always been people who think SA has five years left before we go over the cliff. No change from when I was at school in the sixties. The five years went down to a few months at times in the eighties!

But it seems the people who are the most worried live far from the cliff in places like Toronto, Auckland, London and other wet and cold places. Also from St Ives and Rose Bay in Sydney, Dallas and Europe and other "safe places" that are in the grip of the global financial crisis, which by the way is quite scary. Many of them have survived decades of rolling "five years left" since they left South Africa. So maybe they will be right one day!

My message is, please don't stress about us in South Africa. We are fine. We are cool. We know we live in the most beautiful country in the world with warm and vibrant people. There are more people here with smiles on their faces than in any country I have ever been to.

Young people are returning in droves with skills and a positive attitude. Collectively we bumble along and stuff many things up while letting off a hell of a lot of steam (have you heard of a chap called Julius Malema?). Yet in between South Africans do some amazing things like win a few gold medals, big golf tournaments and cricket and rugby matches.

The South Africans I know get off their butts and do things to build our country rather than whinge from a position of comfort. We actively participate in projects that improve the lot of underprivileged communities. I would not trade for anything last Saturday in a hall full of 1500 African teachers singing at the top of their voices and demonstrating their commitment to improving education in their communities.

We have our challenges and surprises. The standard deviation of our emotions are set at MAX. You are never just a "little bit happy" or a "little bit sad". At one moment you can be "off the scale" pissed off or frustrated or sad or worried or fearful or depressed. The next moment you are "off the scale" exhilarated, or enchanted, or inspired, or humbled by a kind deed, or surprised by something beautiful. It makes life interesting and worth living.

We also have passionate debates about the future of SA. Helped of course by red wine which you must taste again because it is getting better every year! Clem makes a great contribution to the debate as others like Moeletsi Mbeki do. Russell Loubser, the former head of the JSE, made a feisty speech the other day that has whipped up emotions. Up to MAX on the emotions meter of the ANC Youth League whose campaign for nationalisation of the mines was attributed to people who have IQs equal to room temperature.

South African politics has always been volatile, we have opinions that could not be further apart and it evokes emotion on a massive scale. Interesting and stimulating for those that want to take it seriously but noise in the system to me. Fortunately we are rid of apartheid that would have definitely pushed us over the cliff. These are the birth pangs of a new and unpredictable democracy. So buckle up and enjoy the ride and contribute! That is the message I convey to South Africans.

Sad as it is, it is true that the South African diaspora has a largely negative influence on confidence in South Africa. It would not be a problem if their fretting about how long we will last before we go over the cliff was merely a reflection of their concern for us, their friends and family.

The problem is that it does impact foreign investment, which is important for economic growth. A person who is thinking of coming to visit or investing is often put off by listening wide-eyed to the stories of people who have gapped it.

As you know I host many foreign visitors and I have never, EVER, met anyone who has visited for the first time without being blown away by the beauty of the country and the warmth of the people. It is not for nothing that South Africa has the highest ratio of repeat visitors of all long-haul destinations.

So, Jeff, how can I help you stop stressing out about us? Maybe best is that you get exposed to some articles and websites that give a more balanced and uplifting perspective of South Africa. So please don't worry and if you get a chance, put in a good word for us.

All the best

PAUL HARRIS

"Jeff's" response to Paul Harris

David Bullard gets his hands on a leaked copy of the reply to the viral email...

Last week a letter from FNB's Paul Harris to his ex pat mate "Jeff" appeared on the Homecoming Revolution website. It then appeared as a filler piece in the Sunday Times Business Times section and the following morning was used to bulk out Business Day. It's now said to have "gone viral" which is just another way of saying that a lot of people with nothing better to do have e.mailed it to their entire address book.

Thanks to the services of a shadowy group of anarchists known as WikiLies we have managed to get our hands on a leaked response from Jeff to Paul Harris. Read on...

G'day Paul,

Jeez mate....If I'd known my e.mails to you were going to go public I would never have attached that jpeg of those two obliging dusky maidens who joined us both on my boat on Pittwater. One of the lads down at the yacht club told me that your e.mail to me appeared in some fish-wrap newspaper last Sunday and that I ought to respond because it paints me as a bit of a wowser.

I can take a hint and obviously it was stupid of me to send you copies of articles by the likes of Clem Sunter and Mbeki Jnr when it was perfectly obvious that you would have already read them. So I won't do it again. But what's all this stuff about often getting e-mails from "concerned friends" and telling us that it's sweet of us to care. I hope I haven't grown thin skinned after all these years in Aussie but I did find that a touch patronising old buddy. Those quote marks suggest that you doubt my sincerity which is definitely not the case.

I know you're hooked up to that Homecoming Revolution outfit which tries to persuade South Africans to bring their skills back home after they've qualified for foreign citizenship. Purely out of interest, what is the ratio of black to white South Africans that you're tempting back? It would be interesting to know because some cynical bastard once suggested that Homecoming Revolution's main job was to bring people back to fix up the mess caused by the new elite. In which case I hope it's working for you.

Now I know you've survived many things before like Ge Korsten (a joke...right?) and that your land is beautiful, you are all cool people and even manage to win the odd sporting event once you've persuaded your politicians that the team should be selected on talent rather than demographics. I also know that you have some top business brains there and that there are many hard working people in SA (I used to be one of them, remember?) but please don't accuse those of us who criticise SA's politics of whingeing from a position of comfort. And I'm afraid I had to reach for the sick bag when you started beating the drum about all the good works you do for underprivileged communities. So did Jimmy Savile.

You ask if I've heard of a chap called Julius Malema as if I've been going walkabout in the outback these last few years. We do have telly in Oz you know and broadband that is rather faster than yours so of course I've heard of this thieving layabout. And he worries me more than he seems to worry you.

You've come a long way since those days at Rand Consolidated Investments in the early eighties Paul. I see in the Sunday Times rich list that you are among the top 20 richest men in SA with a fortune estimated at around R2bln. Wow.....who would have thought? I know you live in a very secure complex with 24/7 guards and I am damn sure that your financial affairs have been cleverly structured to legally avoid paying any more tax than you really have to.

That's the privilege of the super rich and I don't have any problem with that. My problem is that I am not sure you are really qualified to speak for the average Saffer when you tell them to buck up and put on a happy face because they're all rainbow children. You're in the very fortunate position of having a lot more choice than the majority of your countrymen and I have no doubt that you have hedge strategies in place should your sunny optimism turn out to be misplaced.

Back in 2007 I recall that you spent R20 million on a campaign to get little Thabo to take crime seriously. I searched the internet and found this piece to refresh your memory. You were forced to withdraw that campaign after government threatened to pull accounts from FNB. It was a PR cock-up of note and to make things worse the rest of the business community put the boot in as well. You were accused of setting up in opposition to the democratically elected government. So it's hardly surprising that your backbone has taken a pummelling and that you are keen to make amends now. But writing complete claptrap and burying your head in the sand is no way to do it.

You claim in your e.mail that you have passionate debates in SA but you know that isn't the case. You know that all the leading newspapers depend on government advertising to survive and that they silence voices they find too strident. You also know that the SABC is a shambles and that Primedia are now seen by many in Gauteng as the national broadcaster. Their saccharine recipe for broadcasting ensures that those too critical of government are labelled un-South African or racist and are, from then on, excluded from the right to debate.

You ask how you can help me from stressing about South Africa Paul. Let me tell you. We ex-pats may sometimes give the impression that we think your politicians are a bunch of incompetent knuckleheads who couldn't pull a greasy stick out of a dead dingo's arse (to coin a local phrase). I assure you that we do this because that's how brand SA comes across after 18 years of freedom. There will be those who demonstrate schadenfreude but many of us still have family there and are genuinely concerned about Clem's 25% failed nation status probability.

What worries me most is that you are a leading business figure and yet you don't seem to be seeing the big picture. On the contrary you seem decidedly laid back and are simply hoping things will work out. I guess if you're worth R2bln and in your sixties then that's a luxury you can afford. What I cannot understand though is how pretending things are OK when they are so obviously far from OK is a good business strategy. Remember that ghastly Dealstream episode, not to mention SPJi and the vast losses in equity trading during your watch? How could you forget? The analysts suggested after the event that the losses could have been much lower if the problems had been recognised and acted upon earlier.

And that's all I'm asking Paul. Your country is being run into the ground by a bunch of commies who don't even support capitalism. How can you expect them to perform? And the amount that is disappearing out of the back door ought to worry you as much as it worries the rest of your less, fortunate countrymen. Kids don't get text books, pregnant women sleep on the floors of ill equipped public hospitals, tenderpreneurs keep the luxury car market buoyant but fail to build the roads they were contracted to.....it's a farce mate. And I won't even mention the succession of dodgy police chiefs you've suffered.

So please Paul, take off those expensive rose tinted specs of yours, smell the raw sewage and stop pretending you have a functioning government. Then I'll be only too happy to put in a good word for you when I get the chance.

See you later

Jeff

Billionaire banker says SA is “fine”, psychologists urge public to be gentle with him.

Psychologists have begged South Africans to be compassionate towards billionaire banker Paul Harris, after he wrote a letter announcing that the country was “fine”. “This is what happens when you live in the money-bubble,” said one. “It’s easy to be optimistic about South Africa when you can move to Monaco with the change between your couch pillows.”

Harris made headlines on the weekend after a letter he penned to a friend went viral. In the letter, Harris reveals that the country is “fine”, and assures his friend that “there are more people here with smiles on their faces than any other country I’ve been to”.

This morning the staff at his country seat confirmed that Harris, worth R2-billion, was more than qualified to speak about ordinary South Africans.

Indeed, Mr Harris has got his finger on the pulse of the common man,” confirmed his butler, Fotheringham. “The finger is made of platinum, so he doesn’t actually have to touch the common man, and I disinfect it every day, but still, he does it.”

Housekeeper, Mrs Shortbread, said that Harris often remarked on how all South Africans, regardless of socio-economic status, smiled warmly whenever they saw him.

Och aye, people just light up when he walks into a room!” she gushed. “Some might say it’s because he makes about R10,000 a second and they’re hoping some of that cash will rub off on them, but he prefers to think it’s because South Africans are just intrinsically decent.”

Kitchen maid, Elsie Kleintjoppies, said she had never seen Harris, but had seen pictures of him. “He’s a beautiful bearded man in a long white robe, with light shining out from his head and a lamb curled up at his feet,” she said. “He’s just so incredibly compassionate.”

Meanwhile, psychologists have asked South Africans to “be gentle” with Harris if they encounter him.

Remember, Mr Harris is a superb businessman, with a vast knowledge of finance,” said Dr Naas C. Cyst. “But that money has caused a delusion we call ‘Thinking You Know About How Other People Live’. Unfortunately when you’re super-rich, the scientific term for what you know about ordinary folks is ‘fokkol’.”  “Fokkol” is Afrikaans for “f-ckall”

He said that the public should not try to wake Mr Harris up from his “sleepwalking money-bubble”, but instead gently guide him to the nearest polo club where he could be reintroduced to his own species in a calm and nurturing environment.

Phiyega laughs as Marikana footage is shown

This is the type of individual who is National Police Commissioner in South Africa.  Then again, Jackie Selebi and Bheki Cele were her predecessors…

from News24:

Johannesburg - National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega reportedly laughed and joked as footage of the killing of 34 miners in a clash with police was screened at the Farlam Commission of Inquiry, The Times reported on Wednesday.

Phiyega reportedly joked with a state law adviser as a prelude to the killings was screened at the Rustenburg Civic Centre.

Surrounded by her senior officers, Phiyega smiled as she watched.

It was only after screams of horror echoed across the room, as the footage was played without any warning, that Phiyega's "humorous demeanour changed to that of an ice queen, blatantly ignoring the wailing families", the report continued.

"...Phiyega stared straight ahead, ignoring a widow screaming at her for answers about her husband's death," the newspaper reported.

"Why did they do this? Why did your policemen kill my husband? What did he do?" the woman screamed at her.

Later she was seen comforting one of the widows of the two policemen killed ahead of the August 16 shooting.

Asked repeatedly for comment on why she did not help those upset, and what she had been joking about, Phiyega said: "I am not here for that. I am here for the commission and the commission only."

Bishop Jo Seroka, a talks facilitator for the miners, said: "She sat there laughing and did nothing. You would expect a sense of remorse and empathy which was non-existent."

The truth on the ANC and South Africa

Below is a 30 minute video compiled from news clips of which some are 30 years old.  It provides some insight into ANC ideology and how they intimidated moderates to follow them.  There are various comments from educated black people, one ex-ANC member, on the deceitful and murderous nature of the ANC.

Keep in mind that intimidation and attacks on other party officials remain part of South African politics today.  As does large-scale intimidation of voters through ANC comrades.

Please note that there are certain graphic parts of this video not suitable for young or sensitive viewers, as it contains brutal attacks on citizens.  Click “Read more” below to continue.

TAU SA rejects Zuma’s land reform proposal

I don’t think our president with his grade 3 education really cares.  And we will post a video later to show you why.  In that video, black leaders criticise the ANC and their ideology.  They offer some very sobering thoughts and facts.  Do make sure you take some time out to view it, even though it is the best part of 30 minutes.

For all that it’s worth, the Transvaal Agricultural Union has rejected Zuma’s ridiculous land reform proposals.

land reformfrom Farmer’s Weekly:

By Peter Mashala

President Jacob Zuma’s proposed land reform plan came under fire from TAU SA. In a statement in response to the proposed plan, TAU SA said Zuma's proposals are not feasible and may even be counter-productive in terms of food security.

The organisation said agriculture cannot assume government’s responsibility to handle social grants.  “Agriculture is an economic and not a socialistic activity,” TAU SA said.  It said Zuma's idea of District Reform Committees created doubt.  “To use production time for meetings, which will in essence be to the detriment of other landowners by identifying their land to be sold below market value, is unethical,” said TAU SA.

It said this could cause tension within communities as well as reduce food production.  “To buy land from whomever at 50% of its market value, amounts to expropriation or even nationalisation,” the statement said.  “Some properties were bequeathed from estates, which means widows and orphans will be affected,” TAU SA said.  The organisation said the proposal that commercial farmers who will participate in this project will qualify for BEE status and that their properties will be safe amounts to extortion.

"Help us to identify and remove other farmers and you're safe - farmers who may not have the ability to participate are thus running the risk to remain subject to erroneous legislation,” TAU SA said.

Zuma outlines new plan for land reform

zuma-noteThey can’t make the existing farms redistributed from white farmers work.  In actual fact the vast majority of commercially operating farms acquired from white farmers are destroyed within two years of being handed over to uneducated black farmers.  It has been reported on extensively, e.g. The Great South African Land Scandal.

The commercial farms not gobbled up by ANC cronies for self-enrichment is turned to dust in a few years.  Instead of addressing the issue of people being handed commercial farms they have no clue of operating, the ANC now envisage accelerating land reform by screwing white farmers further by only paying them 50% of the market value of their farms.  Sounds like a real solution.

from IOL News:

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma proposed a new land reform plan in Pretoria on Monday evening.

“This is an innovative proposal that needs to be tested,” he told the first annual general meeting of the African Farmers' Association of South Africa (Afasa).

The plan proposed a district-based approach to land reform and its financing.

“It proposes that each district should establish a district land reform committee where all stakeholders are involved,” Zuma said.

“This committee will be responsible for identifying 20 percent of the commercial agricultural land in the district and giving commercial farmers the option of assisting its transfer to black farmers.”  Does this mean that the current farmer should assist in the cost of transferring his land?

Implementation of this land reform proposal would include five steps.

Firstly, it would entail identifying land readily available from land already in the market; land where the farmer was under severe financial pressure; land held by an absentee landlord willing to exit; and land in a deceased estate.

“In this way, land can be found without distorting markets.”

Secondly, the state would buy the land at 50 percent of its market value.  It does seem so.  This, Zuma said, would be closer to its fair productive value.

The current owner's shortfall would be made up by cash or in-kind contributions from the commercial farmers in the district who volunteered to participate.  Maybe you understand the logic.

Thirdly, in exchange, commercial farmers would be protected from losing their land and gain black economic empowerment status.  So they either do this or the government takes by force.  Now where have we seen this before and how successful was that?  Oh yes, Zimbabwe, just across the border.

“This should remove the uncertainty and mistrust that surrounds land reform and the related loss of investor confidence.

Fourthly, a stepped-up programme of financing should also be created, Zuma said. This would involve the Treasury, the Land Bank, and established white farmers.

“The model envisages that the cost of land reform be spread between all stakeholders.

“It also envisages new financial instruments being designed for the purpose of facilitating land reform.” These could include 40-year mortgages at preferential rates for new entrants into the markets, as well as land bonds that white farmers and others could invest in.

The fifth step was increasing investment in agricultural research and development.

“We also need to use the investment more strategically.”

Zuma said the government looked forward to ongoing engagement with Afasa.

“So that we can develop and harness our vision for agriculture and food security together.” – Sapa

The Curious Design of the AWB Flag.

There has always been a lot of controversy surrounding the design of the AWB flag. It seems to have been cynically designed with the aim of repelling folks away from the organization in the aggregate / radicalize those who joined & to perpetuate an unflattering image of the cause of Boer independence in general. When considering who designed this flag - it becomes apparent that that was indeed the goal all along. A lot of folks have been deterred from or were given a misleading impression of the Boer independence movement due to the flag of this compromised organization [ which became a highly visible organization advocating Boer independence but did not start out that way & was still largely under an Afrikaner based ideology & heavily infiltrated & controlled by intelligence agents ] which only began to call for the restoration of the Boer Republics - due to the influence of Robert van Tonder who was advocating for the restoration of the Boer Republics since 1961 - about five years after adopting this curious & damaging flag. I have always suspected that this flag was designed for the purpose discrediting & marginalizing the Boer Republican movement [ & conservative political resistance to the government in general ] & further research clearly suggests that it indeed was. The flag was designed by the number two - the deputy leader of the organization: Jan Groenwald who was exposed in the book Sell Out as being a government informant / agent. The book further states that a secret government document was leaked to The Weekend Star in April of 1995 which outlined how the AWB was formed by the Vorster government.

The book Victory or Violence: The Story of the AWB notes that Groenwald was the one who recruited Eugene Terre'Blache.

[ After school Terre'Blanche served in the South African Police where he reached the rank of warrant officer. Rumours have abounded that he was in fact ex-prime minister John Vorster's bodyguard, but this is a distortion of the truth. Terre'Blanche was at one stage stationed with the Special Guard Unit, which protects all members of the cabinet, their residences and parliament, but he was just one member out of a unit of several hundred individuals, and was not specifically assigned to Vorster.

While in the police he was also chairman of the Police's Cultural Group, and took part in many of that group's drama performances.

Jan Groenewald, who was to become deputy leader of the movement, met Terre'Blanche for the first time in 1968, when the young Groenewald applied to the South African Police's recruitment office in Pretoria for employment in the police. Terre'Blanche happened to be the warrant officer working in the recruitment office at that stage.

The two soon became friends, although Terre'Blanche himself was a great "John Vorster man" (that is a strong NP supporter) in those years according to Groenewald, who was by that stage already part of the discontent which would lead to the founding of the new HNP a year later. "In 1968 Terre'Blanche took a lot of convincing to realize that there was then already something wrong with the NP," Groenewald said.

By then Vorster had relaxed former prime minister HF Verwoerd's strict sports segregation policy, and was engaged in detente with some Black African states. Both these policies were anathema to the hard liners, who saw them as the first steps which would lead to the collapse of Apartheid.

Groenewald was accepted into the police and stationed at the Head Office of the Security Branch in Pretoria, and both he and Terre'Blanche both ended up being founding members of the new HNP. ]

Page 3 Victory or Violence. The Story of the AWB.

This following excerpt notes that Groenwald was the driving force behind the AWB & designing its emblems.

[ After the election the two men again got together and started planning another organization which would act as a right wing extra-parliamentary pressure group alongside the HNP. Thus the first notion of the AWB was formed. Groenewald did all the basic groundwork - writing the first program of principles, constitution and devising the name and emblems. ]

From: Victory or Violence. The Story of the AWB. Chapter1.

The great Boerevolkstaat website notes that Groenwald designed the flag. The Three Sevens Flag.

Folks like Robert van Tonder - who was calling for the restoration of the Boer Republics since 1961 - were well aware of the damage that this curious flag was bringing to the just cause of Boer self determination as he often refused to speak at meetings where he was invited to speak until the AWB flag was taken down & put away out of sight. The AWB itself was no doubt used as a tool to try to conflate the just & long running goal of Boer self determination with extremist so called Right Wing politics. A number of American callers to the Hello Afrika segment of The Right Perspective short wave / internet radio program would often point out to some of the various Boers guests & guest callers on the program about the damage that the AWB flag was doing to the cause of Boer independence. This is due to the uncanny resemblance that the flag has to the Nazi flag which was not lost on other Westerners as can be seen from an old Weekend Update [ satire / comedy news ] segment of Saturday Night Live when then W-U host Dennis Miller commented how [ the AWB members ] could not even "get the Swastika right". Thus cementing a damaging image & obscuring the true issue in general.

The following is an excerpt from Adriana Stuijt from an old African Crisis post. [ Date Posted: Thursday 04-Oct-2007.

Robert van Tonder, the much-reviled founder of the Boerestaat Party, had frequent falling-outs inside his farm house with leader of the AWB, Eugene Terre'Blanche, about that 'blerrie nazi-flag', as Robert referred to it.

They often appeared on public platforms together and whenever Robert's supporters saw this flag, they'd go and ask the carrier to fold it up and stick it back into his shirt.

The Boerestaters were always very much aware of the tremendous damage which was being done by that flag to the Afrikaner-Boer independence cause at such a crucial time in their history - when they still believed that they were 'negotiating' about it.

Their public image became so marginalised - greatly helped by the personal demonisation campaigns especially in the Afrikaans-language newsmedia of the time -- targetting Van Tonder and Terre'Blanche that they simply could not gain any kind of credible political platform.

Their public meetings often also were disrupted by boozy thugs who carried out-and-out Nazi flags preferably right in front of the TV-cameras.

I always thought that that specific demonisation campaign was carried out by the Afrikaner-Broederbond, the secret organisation which actually ran the apartheid-era government behind the scenes for so long.

.......

He founded the city of Randburg as an independent municipality away from Johannesburg after his wife Sussie had tried to get her driver's license and was treated very rudely for speaking Afrikaans to them.

They launched the Randburg independence movement and actually got so much support that they succeeded in creating the independent Randburg town council - which was overwhelmingly Afrikaans-speaking, and most of Randburg back then was populated by working-class Afrikaners, mineworkers etc.

The Afrikaner Broederbond always hated this group of working-class people like Robert van Tonder because they couldn't be manipulated and always wanted political independence for themselves.

That's why I believe that the Afrikaner Broederbond -- including the De Klerk government -- has always been behind this demonisation campaign of anyone who wanted to fight for Afrikaner language-rights and Boer independence. ]

[ End of quote. ]

[ From: http://www.africancrisis.co.za/Article.php?ID=18216& ]

Robert van Tonder was quoted in a 1991 Dutch documentary called Hartseerland stating: [ The AWB flag emblem is not in the tradition of our people. It resembles a Swastika. ]  Link: Robert van Tonder Discussing Eugene Terre'Blanche. Video.

I am well aware that the AWB flag is often claimed to represent 3 sevens as a symbolic resistance to the 3 sixes of the Anti Christ but this is no doubt a sort of cover story sold in order to get the support of its Christian based members & constituents. The arrangement of the sevens resembles a Triskelion but this also also often denied.

The promotion of extremist looking images / emblems & flags is a classic State directed front.

Respect for life has been lost - ACDP

We need more leaders like Rev Kenneth Meshoe in South Africa.  Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi, founder of the IFP is one.  Although not a political leader as such, Moeletsi Mbeki (brother of Thabo Mbeki) of the South African Institute of International Affairs is another.  Leaders not scared or intimidated from criticising the ANC government.  Leaders able to distinguish between fact and fallacy.  And leaders prepared to be brutally honest, however uncomfortable the facts are as opposed to appeasers of political propaganda along racial lines.

Kenneth-Meshoefrom The New Age:

Shooting at a person in full view of police and television cameras is an indication that respect for life and fear of the police has been lost, the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP)  said on Tuesday.

"If people are not safe in the presence of the police, then where will they be safe? Because our streets are also no longer safe," said party leader Rev Kenneth Meshoe in a statement.

"Even our homes, which should be a place of safety, are being violated by criminals on a daily basis."

He was reacting to the shooting of Inkatha Freedom Party supporter Siya Dlamini in front of police and television cameras outside the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.

IFP councillor Mdu Nkosi said the shots were fired while he was giving an interview following the appearance of three men in connection with the shooting of an IFP supporter a little more than  a week ago at the KwaMashu hostels in Durban.

Meshoe called on Justice and Constitutional Development Minister, Jeff Radebe, to act swiftly and to ensure that the man who shot and killed the IFP member was prosecuted as soon as possible, preferably this week.

"Why would this case take months before it is finalised when there are so many witnesses to the murder? We would like to see swift justice done in this case, as we saw happen during the 2010 Fifa World Cup tournament."

The Congress of the People (Cope) said it was regrettable that the gruesome killings of both IFP and NFP (National Freedom Party) members continued to escalate despite continued calls for a political solution in KwaZulu-Natal.

"It is high time that inter-political battles in KwaZulu-Natal receive the necessary attention by means of a political intervention in order to stabilise the province," said spokesman on  police, Leonard Ramatlakane.

He said such political intervention must seek to educate supporters of political parties about the co-existence of political  opponents and tolerance of different ideas and political persuasion.

The man accused of shooting dead the IFP supporter outside the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court was expected to appear in the same court  facing murder charges on Wednesday.-   Sapa

Sad South Africa

Some interesting facts about the South African economy by The Economist.  It seems like what we warned years ago would happen in South Africa due to large-scale corruption and incompetence is now coming to pass.  We have been accused of racism, longing for the days of a minority white government and even hate speech for exposing the uncomfortable truths about the country post 1994.

The reality of our intention is of course something different.  Decent, right minded folk just want responsible government.  Like they do in any part of the world.  Now there may be some debate as to what constitutes responsible government, but I can tell you without doubt what doesn’t equate to it:

  • Turning a blind eye to extremely serious issues, like out-of-control violent crime.
  • Deliberately misinforming the public through moratorium on statistics or fudging numbers in an attempt to hide the problem.
  • Allowing a breakdown of any magnitude in the legal system due to corruption and discrimination.
  • Large-scale nepotism at all levels of government.
  • Openly allowing hate speech, especially by government and political party officials.

Steve Hofmeyr, well known Afrikaans actor and musician, recently said that he doesn’t want a white government.  He just wants a government that works.  I am not sure whether he meant a government which is responsible and reasonably efficient (as can be expected from governments) or one that actually does something besides working on the square footage of their backsides whilst enriching themselves.  Maybe it’s a bit of both.

WSJ sounds alarm over SA economy

248359_10150270540786474_708791473_8862281_1316556_nCorruption, theft, embezzlement and incompetence can only be covered up to a point.  Then it becomes blatantly clear.

from Fin24:

Johannesburg - The Wall Street Journal has published an article painting a bleak picture of South Africa's economy, saying labour unrest has caused its economic growth to fall behind other African states.

"The unrest is exposing a stark reality - South Africa is falling behind, even in Africa," read the Wall Street Journal article, published on its website on Friday.

The article said Rwanda, which had 800 000 people killed in the same year the ANC took power, had managed to achieve annual economic growth near 8% since 2004, more than double South Africa's 3.7% growth rate during the same period.

It said that when Zambia held its democratic elections in 1991, it scrapped nationalisation, but South Africa "is debating nationalisation and other ways to intervene in the mining sector".

Countrywide strikes coupled with unemployment and income disparity were posing a grave challenge to the ruling party, read the Wall Street Journal article.

Brazil's economy had grown around the same pace as South Africa's but its income disparity had diminished, it added.

Maybe this will shed more light on the problem in South Africa:301654_2349445416478_1260388072_32830475_5931794_n

Back-tracking faster than you reverse

kill boerHT: MP
We have been saying for years that farmers are specifically targeted in farm murders in South Africa.  And always had crack-head liberals accuse us of racism, extremism and so forth.  Some of these liberals just have an axe to grind because they were chased away like dogs from the blogs they contributed to.  Either for doing the stuff they accuse us of, specifically vile language (sometimes aimed at other races) and being two-faced bastards with hidden agendas.
Now the South African Institute of Race Relations had to back-track on initially reporting that the number of attacks per 100,000 farmers is no worse than attacks per 100,000 of the general population.  But in true propaganda spirit, their back-track manoeuvre is published in Afrikaans media, so limiting the truth to those who understand Afrikaans.  We have even reported on this before, that the majority of farm murders is only ever reported in Afrikaans media, thereby limiting international exposure.  See “One farm attack per day”
I will place both articles with translation of the 2nd revised report of the institute in English where important.
Initial report from IOL News:

‘Violent attacks not unique to farmers’

Johannesburg - Farmers are not uniquely vulnerable to armed attacks, the SA Institute of Race Relations said on Friday.
“The analysis of statistics did not indicate that farm attacks were not a problem,” the institute's CEO Frans Cronje said.
“Rather it revealed just how vulnerable all South Africans are to violent crime.”
The number of farm attacks per 100 000 farmers and their families was comparable to the number of criminal attacks per 100 000 people in the general population.
According to an analysis of farm attack data collected by farmers' union TAU, there were 108 confirmed attacks in 1994, and 85 in 2011.
The highest number of farm attacks occurred in 2002, with 229 across the country. The lowest number was 70 in 1996.
In 2011, the number of attacks per 100,000 farmers and farmworkers in the formal sector was 16.8.
If it was assumed that farmworkers were not targeted, and that attacks were aimed at commercial farmers and their families only, the rate of attack was 45.8 per 100,000 (assuming three dependants each).
The rates calculated were broadly comparable to rates per 100 000 people for other serious crimes among the general population.
In 2011, South Africa had a murder rate of 31.9 per 100 000 people. The house robbery rate was 33.4 per 100 000.
The total aggravated robbery rate was 203 per 100 000 people. – Sapa

Now for the truth

from Afrikaans media outlet Rapport:

‘Jammer boere, julle ís in gevaar’ – ‘Sorry farmers, you ARE in danger’

The research initially suggested that farmers are not necessarily exposed to higher risk of criminal attacks.  This research was based on insufficient data from TLU SA which underestimated the number of farm attacks up to 7 times.
Ons het die navorsing dus weer gedoen en nuwe gevolgtrekkings gemaak.  Thus we did the research again and came to new conclusions.
Our research now indicates that in 2011 there were up to 422 farm attacks per 100,000 farmers and family members.
Firstly we compared the rate of armed home burglaries with farm attacks.  In 2011 there were 33 home burglaries per 100,000 people in the general population.
Teen hierdie maatstaf was boere se kanse om aangeval te word dus 13 keer groter as ander landsburgers s’n.  This benchmark puts the risk of farmers being attacked at 13 times of that of the general population.
Secondly we compared cases of armed robbery in general with farm attacks.  This rate measures all armed robberies and not only armed home burglaries.  In 2011 there were 200 armed robberies per 100,000 people in the country.  Against this benchmark, it was twice as likely for a farmer to be attacked.  (Own comment – I regard this as bullshit statistic.  Twice as many doesn’t sound as bad as 13 times, right?  But how can you compare farm attacks, i.e. farmers attacked at home on farms with all armed robberies, which will include things like car hi-jacks on public roads, armed bank robberies, muggings, etc?  If that farmer happens to be driving in town and hi-jacked, he is part of that statistic too.  This measurement again downplays farm attacks.)
The research indicates that in 2011 farmers were murdered at a rate of 68 per 100,000.  The murder rate for general population was 31 per 100,000.
’n Boer se kanse om vermoor te word was dus twee keer meer waarskynlik as ’n gewone landsburger se kans om vermoor te word.  A farmer’s risk of being murdered is thus twice that of general citizens.
’n Mens kan net een gevolgtrekking maak. Dit is dat boere aan ’n hoër vlak van geweldmisdaad blootgestel is as ander landsburgers.  A person can only come to one conclusion.  Farmers are exposed to higher levels of violent crime than other citizens.
Our farmers are thus experiencing a massive onslaught.
Ons vra om verskoning aan die boeregemeenskap dat ons oorspronklike navorsing – wat op onvolledige data gegrond was – ’n ander indruk gewek het.  We apologise to the farming community that our initial research, which was based on incomplete data, gave a different impression.

Liberal white guilt and deranged idiocy

liberalism-liberalism-is-a-mental-disorder-political-poster-1285010887There are few things which piss me off more than racist, militant blacks in South Africa wanting to kill all the whites or telling everybody that whites have no legal right to be in the area which is South Africa today.  As if their tribes did not move from central Africa to escape murderous, marauding hordes.  They are no more or less indigenous than whites in South Africa.

The definite exception being lunatic liberals.  Those with the deranged mindset which will stop at nothing to attempt to convince others that such blacks are just racist as a reaction to whites.  These militant blacks can’t possibly be racist because of their violent disposition or hate of others.  They aren’t racist because of their hate of whites.  Neither are they hateful because of their xenophobic stance on other black tribes.  They are just unfortunate souls forced to act this way because nobody gives them enough attention.

You know, I can possibly find an excuse for some militant black person who decided time and again to burn down his classroom instead of being educated in it.  And then years later blame the white government for not educating them.  Maybe they were forced to do so by other militant blacks, as we know the horrors of innocent blacks being “necklaced” at the hands of ANC scum whenever they refused to join violent protests against the white government in the 1970s and 1980s.  Maybe they had no other choice but to join the hateful destructors.

But what excuse do these liberal white scum have?  Do they all rely on the corrupt ANC government for their existence?  Do they really believe that ignoring an issue will make it go away?  The specific issue here being continuous violent attacks, extreme torture and most brutal murders on mostly white farmers in South Africa.  It seems the new catchphrase from these deranged liberal white scum is to call anybody speaking out against these brutal murders “racist”.  Yes, you’ve never heard that one before.  This term has never been uttered by mass media outlets whenever blacks are criticised for violence.  Whether you find yourself in South Africa, USA, UK or Australia.  You’ve never heard a person speaking out against black-on-white violence being called “racist”, “extremist” or “right-wing”.  No, of course not.

In actual fact, these cries of racism have become as long in the tooth, original and valid as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or Jeremiah Wright’s outbursts.  To be more precise, they have not only become outdated, but frankly totally deranged and as sure a sign of idiocy as the honourable mentions of the Darwin Awards.  Note, only the honourable mentions, as it seems that some acts of lunacy even catch fate off-guard and the Grim Reaper in such a state of disbelief that even it is ineffective.

A new petition has been launched against certain Facebook users, because they are apparently racist and condone hate speech for speaking out against acts of violence (specifically brutal murders) against whites in South Africa.  I guess it must be their fault that the majority of perpetrators are hateful blacks.  A petition called “Permanently shut down the Facebook Pages of Sunette Bridges and Boere Krisis Aksie (B.K.A.)” have the following statements, which we will gladly tear apart as nothing more than deranged filth and Marxist propaganda.  I will post their whole petition with my own comments within.

Dear Sir or Madam

You may or may not have heard of a person called “Sunette Bridges” or a group called “Boere Krisis Aksie (B.K.A.)”. Both Bridges, an Afrikaans Singer, and the B.K.A., a right wing information group, operate highly controversial pages on Facebook.  Like we said – you’ve never heard this type of name calling of those exposing the truth or not agreeing to liberal propaganda before!  A literal translation of BKA is “Boer Crisis Action”.  They report on farm murders and warn people when a crime has been committed in an area.  Many of their members have called on the South African government to re-instate the death penalty.

We are a group of concerned South African Citizens of all races who have attempted on various occasions to inform Facebook of the horrendous content that not only contributors, but in many instances the owners of these groups themselves post on their pages. We feel that if these comments were written in English, Facebook would have taken very quick action, as it is not only inflammatory but extremely racist and often promote hate speech against black South Africans.  So we have to take their word for it that the comments written in Afrikaans constitute racism or hate speech.  From the outright lies we will expose below, you decide for yourself what their word is worth. We also do not believe that the inflammatory actions of Bridges and the B.K.A. are in any way contributing in a positive manner towards the reconciliation of races in this Country, and their remarks could potentially lead to the stereotyping of white people in this country, whereas a very large majority of White South Africans support and actively vote for the Democratic Alliance, a multi-racial party which openly condemns racism in any form. We are shameful of this vocal minority who claims to be speaking on behalf of all White South Africans.  I wonder if this is the type of reconciliation these liberal scum have in mind, when a certain black reverend Kemo Waters called for the killing of “a material number of whites”.  These deranged idiots didn’t create petitions then.

We urge you to please sign this petition and we want to ask Facebook to permanently shut down these pages, and ban the owners from using Facebook ever again. We believe that the authors of these pages are not contributing to goodwill amongst all South Africans, and that their actions constitutes as Hate Speech.  I’m not sure what is worse – their typically abhorrent self importance and belief that they know what is best for all or their pathetic grammar.  Note they do not call it hate speech, “they believe” it is hate speech.  Surely when you make this sort of accusation, you have already established its nature, not what you think it is.  You don’t report an incident with the police where “you believe another driver crashed into you”.  Either they did or did not.  I don’t “believe” Kemo Waters is a hateful black committing hate speech, I am saying he IS a hateful black person guilty of hate speech.  I just wonder if this isn’t an easy “get-out” clause should any of these “right wingers” decide to drag their arses to court.  You can hear them now:  “No, no, we only said ‘we believe’.  It was only an opinion”.  We believe (here we go again) that Facebook has been slow in taking action, as the moderators of Facebook, do not understand the language and the subtleties (usually coded racism) on these pages. We really hope that Facebook will now get the message and take the necessary action.

Some of the comments on these pages include amongst other things:

  • That former President Nelson Mandela is a terrorist, and the new South African bank notes depicting Mandela should be vandalised.  This one is actually funny.  Such was the nature of Nelson Mandela’s criminal charges at the time that Amnesty International refused to take his case as a “political prisoner”.  Legal scholars agree that he received a very lenient sentence and to this day don’t understand why Percy Yutar only filed for manslaughter and not murder in Mandela’s trial.  Had he been tried of similar offences in the USA at the time, he would surely have received the death penalty.  So just Google “Church Street bombing” or read “Terrorist Watch – Mandela and the Church Street bombing”.  Then decide for yourself whether this man could possibly be defined as a terrorist.
  • They showed no regard for any of the victims of the Lonmin tragedy. They were celebrating the death of “the barbarians" rather than mourning this terrible occurrence.  Are they referring to the Lonmin protestors who killed 10 people before the police started shooting at them as they charged the police officers armed with machetes, pangas and guns?  So what do you call “folk” hacking of the jaws of other human beings and burning them alive?
  • Xenophobia.  The only instances of xenophobia in South Africa are local black tribes viciously murdering members of foreign tribes.  See: “Xenophobia – euphemism for black racism”
  • That a young multiracial couple should be stoned to death.  This sounds like a poor reference to Old Testament scripture.
  • Black South Africans are regularly referred to as animals or baboons that belong in the Zoo, Uneducated Barbarians without a soul and that they should die, “Kaffers" should be shot  and are not human, they are born without brains/ intellectually disabled, it is impossible for black people to be civilized and many more.  I have seen numerous references to bafoons or buffoons when referring to corrupt ANC cadres and their useful idiot following.  Considering the track record of Showerhead Zuma, minister Beetroot, Shabir Shaik, Jackie Selebi and countless others, I will be here for the next 100 years citing references.  Yet I have never heard or seen one “derogatory” comment against the very distinguished Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi.  Now have these right wingers just forgotten about him all these years?  Or are they actually capable of identifying honour and intelligence in people of colour?  I know of white people who voted for Buthelezi’s IFP in the 1994 elections.  I should know.  I was one of them.
  • Militant incitement: Bridges personally stated that she can't wait for the day that the "Vierkleur” (Old Transvaal Flag and symbol of Apartheid), will be flying again at Church Square in Pretoria.  Now few things will ever expose the idiocy and deranged hateful nature of lunatic liberals than this little gem from revisionist history.  The “Vierkleur” was the official flag of the Boer Republic of Transvaal.  The Boers lost their republics to the British Empire in the 2nd Anglo Boer War which ended in 1902.  The term “Apartheid” was coined with Hendrik Verwoerd’s policies of segregation under the Nationalist government from 1948 to 1994.  The flag of “Apartheid” South Africa was never the “Vierkleur”, but the orange, white and blue flag based on the 17th century Dutch flag.  Is was first hoisted in the Union of South Africa in 1928, 16 years after the demise of the Transvaal Republic and was replaced by the new South African flag in 1994.  The “Vierkleur” is as much a flag against white oppression as black oppression, as the British Empire killed 24,000 Boer children in concentration camps when they couldn’t beat the Boers in battle.  See images below.
  • People have been complaining that any person who does not share their political opinion on their pages, are automatically called extremely racist things like k4boeties. (K4 is a code word used on Sunette and the BKA’s pages, for "Kaffir", a derogatory word for black people in South Africa.). Besides white people who complain about their racism, they automatically do not allow coloured, black or Indian people to take part in any discussion.  I have seen the comments posted on certain groups.  You usually find trolls posting ridiculous, flaming comments in a group they clearly don’t belong or have any interest in, only to cry wolf when they are chased away like dogs.  Last time I looked, freedom of association was not a crime.  But apparently to these deranged idiots, their neighbours putting up “stay off the grass” notices on their lawns are invitations for the idiots’ poodles to take a shit on the neighbour’s porch.
  • Both Bridges and the B.K.A.’s main objective seem to be fighting what they call "genocide” (Dr Gregory Stanton at Genocide Watch calls it something totally different) against white South Africans. Although we do believe (still?) strongly that violence in this country is out of control and that the current government should be taken to task for the high murder rate, we do not believe that it is exclusively aimed at white people (yet statistics expressed as percentage of specific parts of the population tell a different story). Statistics have clearly showed (Do the statistics you refer to here include the ones police officers refuse to record when failing to open crime dockets at police stations because the victims are white?  Or the ones where murders are recorded as lesser crimes?) that all South Africans of all races suffer. Bridges and the B.K.A. are quoting “figures” of 600 000 whites living in squatter camps, and Bridges recently claimed that since 1994, 160 000 whites have been murdered, and that half of the murders taking place in South Africa are on white people (remember white people are a minority group that are only 10% of the population). When asked, Sunette Bridges could not substantiate her claims with any peer reviewed research. We have done our own research and spoken to various informed academics, (we liberal, lunatic, deranged, lying pathetic scum just failed to reference these findings – oh wait, it’s only applicable when we make the accusation) and they were stunned at this ill informed research and manipulated statistics used by Ultra – Right wing groups (they have progressed from “right wing” to “Ultra – Right wing”, with capitalisation and extra spacing, like the spacing of brain cells in liberal minds). These statistics are false, and are a very effective tool used by these anarchists to scaremonger and to promote racism and hate speech in order to promote
    their own political agenda
(as opposed to the anarchists, racists and hateful protestors at Lonmin who only killed 10 innocent people).

We will greatly appreciate your support in our effort to promote goodwill amongst all South Africans and to ban Racism, Discrimination and Hate Speech on Facebook. (Decent minded folk would appreciate you lunatics dragging yourself and your shit-clotted-arsed poodles back to your own yards, but that never happens either.  I guess it means this is just one shitty old world)

Thank you. (The pleasure is all mine.  Really.  Your story has touched my heart.  Never before have I heard of people with as many problems as you.  Now please piss off and go bother somebody else.)
