South African Crime: Another Beautiful Family Destroyed Needlessly

This is never going to end, is it? This bloodbath will continue until the country is totally destroyed. Are there any sane people left, that still hold onto the utopian dream of a better tomorrow? The barbaric scum.

Fury At Father's Murder

The murder of 42-year-old Kobus Snyman in front of his family on Friday night is becoming a focal point of South African outrage at the unacceptably high levels of violent crime in this country. While crime is prevalent the world over, the propensity to murder the victims thereof, simply because you can, is not.

In the case of Snyman two robbers entered his Midrand home, held guns to the heads of his twin daughters aged 10 and then shot him while he was trying to respond to a call for help from his other daughter, 16-year-old Lenika. All of this for a laptop and a few cellphones and where 9 times out of 10 the option of fleeing the scene of the crime rather than murdering the victims is rejected out of hand.

As cold-blooded a murder as you will find anywhere and unfortunately occurring daily in the cities and townships of South Africa.

South Africa is under siege from criminals and the more bluster people receive from Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa's about tracking down two criminals on an e.tv interview or National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele's about "shooting to kill" while the murders carry on regardless, the more anger that is being generated.

"It is time that capital punishment is re-instated. It is the only real deterrent to murder and the only appropriate punishment that will rid our country of elements that infect society like a festering sore," Christian Democratic Party leader Theunis Botha said in a statement.
"We hear of new incidents of violence every day ending up in people being murdered and maimed by these predators. Yet they roam our streets with impunity... When will the government realise that its first priority to its citizens?"

While it is all very well for the World Cup organizers to set out the huge amounts that are being spent on securing the World Cup, citizens of Alexander, Soweto and Cape Town would like to know why they are not being protected on a day to day basis.

Yes the players and officials have no need to fear the horrendous crime that is our daily plight but the tourists and South African citizens do and will have to continue doing so after the final whistle has blown.
Freedom Front Plus leader in Gauteng, Jaco Mulder, said there was an "element of barbarism" in South Africa. Robberies such as these showed that the police could not control them.

"The world should take note of this barbaric element of the South African life, during the 2010 football," Mulder said in a statement.
And Mulder is quite right in pointing out that the world should take note of the horrendous crime rate that is the lot of all South Africans. More importantly the government should listen carefully to the people of this country.

Stop acting as if the laws of South Africa do not apply to everyone. If a judge tries to influence other judges to give an expedient decision and goes unpunished, when people involved in corruption are given medical parole and are on their way to pardon despite there being no basis therefore and when the biggest corruption scandal in our history involving the arms deal is brushed under the carpet then lawlessness is sanctioned.

Then South Africa pays the price for a selective morality that those at the top just doesn't seem to comprehend translates into violence on the ground.

With deadly effect.

Seeing that Zuma walks all over the constitution anyway, how about calling for a referendum on the death penalty.

Fuck Pierre de Vos and the other few remaining douchebags who believe the death penalty is an insult to humanity.

We're way short of humanity and patience in Africa. We need that referendum NOW.

Why didn´t he have protection in the form of firearms for himself and his family? Why were his family not trained in the use of firearms? This man had 3 daughters and a wife to protect. How did he think he could do this without training and weapons?
Are these people stupid or just plain dumb? He can just be tankful his daughters and his wife didn´t end up being raped.
Sorry, I find it hard to have any sympathy for Mr Snyman.

@Anon 10:08. A little harsh don't you think? The man paid with his life.

Yes, he did, and while it is very sad, what is even sadder is that this man, who must have been aware of the dangers of living in a society ravaged by violent crime where woman are raped and men killed by lawless criminals, didn´t take the necessary precautions to protect himself and his loved ones, who happened to be white woman.
If a man goes for a ride on a motorcycle without a crash helmet and has an accident in which he suffers fatal head injuries, I would have to say the consequences are a result of his stupidity, and while I regret the fact he died, he did contribute to his own demise. I hope you see what I´m saying here.
The message is clear. We live in a crime ridden country, so take every precaution necessary to protect yourself and your loved ones. Buy firearms and be trained on how to use them. Prepare for the worst, so if it happens you don´t become another statistic.
That was my message.

@Anon 8:44. You seem to write as if you have first hand knowledge of South Africa. You are aware that you cannot simply go out and buy a firearm. You are also aware of the licensing issues surrounding firearms. I agree that the time has probably arrived where it may be imperative that you always carry a firearm, if you have access to one, but we cannot assume that Mr. Snyman was negligent. He may have been hampered in his efforts to completely protect his family, as are thousands of others.

The law has no moral right to disarm anyone who finds themselves in a life threatening situation. Such a law is not worth the paper it´s written on. I don´t care what the law allows, if you need to have firearms, you get them, legally or illegally, it´s that simple.
If this man was forced to have an unlicensed firearm, he could have claimed it belonged to one of the intruders, and that he managed to get it away from him. There is no way they could prove he was lying.
You know the old saying, " A boer maak a plan"? Well, better to maak a plan than become another statistic.
Fuck the law. Arm yourself and protect your family. Simple.

Funny how Cele and the ANC is silent about this. We need to tell this story and all others like it to the world, even if we have to force it down their stuoid throats.

The Boer or white person who do not realize that we are in a war, must surely be blind as a bat.

You know, before you make sweeping callous statements you should do some research. The man did in fact possess a firearm, and even after being shot in the heart still tried to run for it! He was obviously moving on a pure adrenaline rush that comes from sensing your children are in mortal danger.

Your attitude is utterly reprehensible! As if the blame was anywhere, but with the person who pulled the trigger!

Without wanting to prolong this interchange, the really disturbing implication is that you have a loaded firearm ON YOUR PERSON AT ALL TIMES.
