From the "Get a Life" dept.

They just won't stop busting this guy's chops. This gets people more riled than the news that 18000+ of our citizens were murdered last year. Where are their priorities? Actually, casting Semenya and what Teazers means in the same picture, yuk...

"I am sick and tired of bloody women who have nothing to do but look at Teazers billboards and complain. There are a lot more serious things that are happening in the country like corruption, crime and all that than complain about a billboard," Jackson said.

What men want -
A post we did about Teazers in July 2008 when people complained about another advert being too risqué.

What does a suggestive new Teazers billboard have in common with Caster Semenya?

Nothing! If you believe Teazers owner Lolly Jackson.

The billboard, on display in Rivonia Road, Sandton, shows a woman with ample breasts laying on her back. Her left arm covers her breasts and her knees are bent. The words "No need for gender testing!" are written across the billboard.

But despite the glaring "gender testing" link, Jackson said it was all a coincidence. "The (Semenya) gender test was the furthest thing from my mind when we did the advert.

"If it is construed in another way, maybe it should be that I am directing it at Leonard Chuene - that I am honest, I do not lie when I put my billboards up there," he said yesterday.

Jackson said he came up with the words himself and that they were self-explanatory.

"I do not want anyone coming here (to Teazers) with the idea that we do not have women. We have women, 100 percent women here. I did a test on them, I am a professional and they are 100 percent wo-men," he said, laughing.

But one person is not laughing and has laid a complaint about the billboard with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which could lead to Jackson being forced to remove it if it is found to be offensive.

"Some religious freak complained, only a religious fool would complain about that. Maybe the woman who complained should lose a bit of weight and her husband will then stop looking at the Teazers billboard, maybe she is fat and ugly. I don't give a s**t about her moral issues.

"I am sick and tired of bloody women who have nothing to do but look at Teazers billboards and complain. There are a lot more serious things that are happening in the country like corruption, crime and all that than complain about a billboard," Jackson said.

"It is a nice advert and the woman is a wonderful specimen of a lady. I wish there were a lot more in Sandton looking like her".

He also attacked ASA, calling them "a bunch of idiots doing a worthless job".

But Corné Koch, the communications manager of ASA, said it is not the body's role to stop people from complaining. "We protect consumers and ensure professionalism among advertisers. We are there to look at complaints. We do not monitor adverts, we react to complaints."

Regarding this billboard, Koch said ASA had received a complaint on September 19, with the complainant claiming the advert was offensive. They have yet to take action, as they are waiting for Jackson to provide them with an image of the advert.

He had until today to do so, but Jackson said he will reply to the ASA in his own time - and when he feels like it.

"They can go and look for it themselves. People are only complaining because it is Teazers. Remove the word Teazers and replace them with sunbeds or Sun International and there would be no complaints," he said. - The Star

Obama and White People: Where History Gets Weird

By Mark Butterworth at American Thinker

So here we have Barack — raised by whites, protected and privileged by whites, guided by whites, funded by whites, managed by whites, and finally, elected by whites. And someone who has turned all his inner rage into a diatribe against the society of whites and its free markets, liberties, government, culture, traditions, and beliefs.

And we have Michelle, affirmed by whites, promoted by whites, enriched by whites, and angry that all her success came, not from her own community, but as spoils from condescending whites, liberal guilt and noblesse oblige to less brilliant “coloreds” such as herself.

James Lewis noted in 2008: ". . . Barack and Michelle seem to suffer from real feelings of inferiority. Michelle is a Princess of Privilege -- Princeton University, Harvard Law School and her 300K job today. And yet, she tells us that she spent years feeling bad about being black in America, as she told the world in her undergraduate thesis, at the very time when blacks are moving ahead faster than ever before in human history."

Think of what they owe Bill Ayers and the trust they’ve placed in him. He could spill the beans of what he’s done for them at any time, but he won’t. Obama is his Manchurian Candidate, his Trojan horse, his Quisling for Marxism and the ruin of white America.

But Obama can’t destroy America anymore than Wilson, FDR, Jimmy Carter could. He can damage it, but never transform it, which means Obama fails, retires to private life like Jimmy Carter. He can certainly enrich himself as an ex-President as Bill Clinton has done, but underneath it all there lingers the sub-conscious knowledge for he and Michelle that it all began with a lie, unearned wealth, and white privilege.

This is history being weird.

Affirmative Decline In Medical Practitioner Competence

Entrenching Mediocrity
Is Our Education System Being Dumbed Down (Part II)

An earlier post by Angulus Calx got me thinking about the medical profession. You will recall that UCT implemented racist selection criteria, where blacks only require a 74% average at matric level, to gain entrance to the UCT medical school. This, as opposed to coloureds at 78%, Asians at 88% and whites at 91%.

Apparently this is their effort at redressing past oppression, which of course it isn't. This has got to do with appeasement. The brightest minds know that intelligence has got very little to do with your environment, or for that matter, oppression. Intelligence is heritable; it is in your genes. So by lowering the admission requirements, you simply increase the levels of mediocrity and incompetence. Of course this is tautological, as we already know this.

To briefly cover some old terrain; using the IQ spread amongst the different population groups, as well as the Department of Education's numbers, we were able to determine what IQ level would be required by the different race groups, and the numbers that UCT could choose from.

To recap:

Whites require an IQ of 138, and there would be approximately 188 candidates to choose from.

Coloureds and blacks require an IQ of 125, and there would be approximately 62 coloureds to choose from, BUT no blacks.

What? No Blacks?

Yes, and that means that UCT is probably lowering the standards even further, as are all the other medical schools, thereby introducing Doctor Death via incompetence.

Is my research wayward? Hardly. Let's have a look at a similar exercise that was conducted in the USA.

If admission to medical school was determined strictly by the scores achieved on the MCAT only 7 blacks in the entire USA would probably be admitted to the top 10 schools. Yet the odds favouring black student applicants over whites is a massive 21:1.

To put it more simply; physicians are chosen from the pool that has an IQ of at least 114, at least in theory. This equates to 4.8 black physicians to 100 white physicians. Yet as far back as 1970 the ratio was already 23:100. In 1980 the ratio was 30:100. Which means that 84% of the black physicians have an IQ less than 114 and are probably incompetent. Oh, and by the way, blacks only constitute 12% of the population.

What has this meant? Well white enrollments have dropped 27% (up to 2005) and black enrollments have increased 23.8%.

Seems to be a universal truth; we will lower our standards and sacrifice our health in the name of egalitarianism. I guess Michael Jackson learnt the hard way.

As for South African shortages; I'm not surprised. As a white, if you need an IQ of 138 to gain admission to medical school, you would be snapped up, upon graduation, by any first world country. No wonder we don't see young physicians anymore.

But it is more than just IQ. I could tolerate a lower IQ if I was dealing with a doctor with other qualities such as empathy, altruism, tolerance, compassion and foresight.

These are highly developed qualities, that are strongly correlated with intelligence. Research is beginning to emerge that suggests that primitive cultures are lacking in these essential qualities; and you guessed it, they are inherited.

So in summary, stay away from black doctors (on average), and do not give in to state sponsored medical programmes.

Travelgate: How the ANC rewards those guilty of corruption

How the ANC rewards Travelgate guilty - DA

Mike Ellis says the parliament's fraudsters have continued to prosper

Travelgate: How the ANC rewards those guilty of corruption

Yesterday the ANC parliamentary caucus released a statement on Travelgate fraudster and Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans, Mnyamezeli Booi, in which it rejected the DA's call for Mr Booi to resign, saying it "smacked of political opportunism" and that the caucus was "satisfied by Booi's show of remorse and his co-operation with the judiciary in reaching the agreement".

Yesterday Mr Booi pleaded guilty to theft and was fined R50 000 or a five year jail term. He admitted to using R92 000 worth of travel vouchers for car rental and hotel accommodation worth R20 000.

In other words, Mr Booi defrauded Parliament, breached the good faith vested in him by the public and has dragged the process out for years; nevertheless, the ANC is happy to let Mr Booi continue in his position. He joins the ranks of the many other Travelgate fraudsters who now enjoy high-ranking positions in the ANC. And, once again, ANC bluster about accountability and a commitment to fighting corruption has come to nought.

When the scandal first broke the ANC national executive released a statement in which it stated, among other things, that the ANC would "institute disciplinary action against any of its MPs or other members found guilty of wrongdoing". It seems that it is not going to happen. In fact, the ANC seems to have gone out of its way to reward a great many of those found guilty of fraud. Below this statement is a list of a number of those Travelgate MPs who have either returned to Parliament, the provincial legislature or been given jobs by the ANC itself, subsequent to the scandal.

It is remarkable. Among the positions now held by a number of those found guilty of defrauding Parliament - the heart of South Africa's democracy - include:

• A Member of the Provincial Legislature
• Seven Members of Parliament
• A Deputy Minister
• Three Committee Chairpersons
• A Branch Treasurer
• A member of an ANC Disciplinary Committee
• Chair of the ANC Women's Caucus
• A member of the SADC Parliamentary Forum
• A whip for the Committees on the Auditor General and Ethics and Private Members' Legislative Proposals and Special Petitions.

Quite clearly, if you want to make it big in the ANC, you need to commit fraud and you will be appropriately rewarded.

In the press statement that accompanied the ANC's announcement of its 2009 list, the party stated "they have been told that their organisation, and the people they represent, will hold them to the highest standards of integrity and accountability."

In a word: Whatever.

The ANC wouldn't know what accountability looked like if it hit it over the head with a spade.

It continues to do everything in its power to do the exact opposite on the sentiments contained in the promise above: ignore the people, undermine the integrity of Parliament and systematically denude the Constitutional principle of accountability of its worth. Its attitude is disgraceful.

Jacob Zuma has spoken about creating an "ethos of accountability". More like a quagmire for the corrupt and arrogant.

Statement issued by Mike Ellis, MP, Democratic Alliance deputy chief whip, September 30 2009

Opportunities in the medical field……

CAPE TOWN — Almost half the doctor and specialist posts in Free State hospitals are empty, according to a written reply to questions posed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Parliament.

The province is also battling to find nurses, dentists and physiotherapists, which is hampering essential services.

“It’s absolutely shocking. You can’t run a proper hospital system (like) this,” said DA health spokesman Mike Waters.

The health ministry’s response on health professionals employed by the Free State health department shows that only 417 of the 785 doctor and registrar posts are filled; 162 of the 313 specialist posts ; 2356 of the 3822 nurses posts ; and 54 of the 115 physiotherapists posts .

Waters said the DA suspected the high vacancy rate was due to poor budgeting. He said he had asked Parliament’s health committee to call the provincial and national health and treasury departments to account.

When I read this article on the shortages of medical personnel in the Free State, I realized that there are huge opportunities for BEE and equal employment, which for some or other reason, are not pursued.

There are already people that can step into these roles, namely Izinyanga.

Just so that there are no confusion on the capabilities of these individuals, and their qualifications, extracts from internet sources to clarify that.

Inyanga (literally "the man of the trees") is a Zulu word for a traditional healer.
Although the word sangoma is generally used in South African English to mean all types of traditional Southern African healers, inyangas and sangomas are in fact different. An inyanga is an herbalist who is concerned with medicines made from plants and animals, while a sangoma relies primarily on divination for healing purposes. The knowledge of the inyanga is passed through the generations from parent to child.

In modern society the status of these medicine men or women has been translated into wealth. Most izinyanga in urban areas have shops with consulting rooms where they sell their medicines.

iziNyanga are herbalists, and many of them have a truly good knowledge of many natural substances, which have a real remedial effect. Such medicines come from many different sources, one of these is the bark of certain trees. The Zulu word "umuthi" has a triple meaning: Tree, bark and medicine. It is frequently wrongly abbreviated as "Muti" by non-Zulu-speakers.

Gang of 20 attack mall

'A four-year-old girl was kicked in the face'

The robbery at VC Shopping Centre, a small complex in Dalview, Brakpan, has left many people shaken. This morning a manager explained how he had been confronted in his office by two robbers last night.

"They had guns, but they were pointing them down at the ground and they were screaming 'Money, money'. "I did what they told me to do, I took the safe keys and walked downstairs to where the safe is," said the manager who asked that his name not be published.

Visibly shaken, he described how the robbers took his watch and his cellphone from him as they followed him to the safe. "I opened the safe and gave them everything that was there. They then told me to lie down on the ground and they left." A few minutes later he called out to make sure that the robbers were gone.

Then he got up and started helping his staff. He said that staff and customers told him that the gang had entered the shop at about 6.45pm, posing as customers. Suddenly they pulled guns out and ordered the cashiers to open their tills. Some of them cleaned out the tills while others headed to the office. Everyone was made to lie down as the robbers proceeded to rob customers of their jewellery, watches, phones and wallets.

When it was over, customers left quickly. Another four shops in the centre - Yuppies Pizzeria and Grillhouse, Liquor City, Angelo's Supermarket and Hollywood Nites video shop - were all hit at the same time.

An eyewitness, who was eating takeaways in the parking lot, said he saw a group of men walking into the Spar. Minutes later he saw people lying on the ground and the men pointing guns. "Then I knew it was a robbery. I quickly took cover and hid under the car," said the man. Johan Thiart, a warder at Boksburg Correctional Services, was at the video shop when the robbers stormed in.

"When I turned around a man put a gun on my face. He ordered me to lie down on the floor," Thiart said. He said a four-year-old girl was kicked in the face by the robbers who instructed everybody in the shop to lie on the floor.

"They were shouting aggressively at the cashier demanding money. I was lying face down. I saw about five men. The whole thing lasted for about five minutes," he said. This morning, Elize Spice was at Brakpan police station to collect her handbag which was recovered by the police from inside the Toyota Quantum minibus.

"I'm so glad everything is in there. Even the R200 my boss had given me." An FNB safe, pizzas, R22 000 in cash, cigarettes, two cellphones and three firearms were also found in the bus. The VC Spar was robbed in June this year.

An employee who survived the June robbery collapsed last night after this latest attack. She did not return to work today.

Counseling had been organized for all the staff. Lamola said cases of business robbery and murder have been opened and are being investigated. Police have interrogated the three men arrested for leads as to the remaining members of the gang. They will also attempt to link them to other violent robberies.

The toll gate was quiet today with little evidence of last night's mayhem.

What the English publications once again fail to mention is that a innocent motorist was shot and killed when these thugs stole his car. Or is this of no importance?

Motoris vermoor toe rowers vlug (motorist killed as robbers fled)

Is this just another deliberate attempt by the MSM in South Africa to hide the crime from possible 2010 supporters?

Dave Matthews' Politics of Racial Paranoia

By Joseph Lindsey (Big Hollywood)

“Honky,” “cracker,” “whitey,” “spot,” “the white guy” and “my white nigga” are a few of the words and phrases used to describe me by fellow co-workers (along with a few white jokes told to my face on the set of a film) I co-starred in called “Caught Up” in 1998. I was in fact the only principal white actor on a set dominated by black actors, a black director, a black writer and a predominantly black crew. Not once did I think I was being treated in a racist manor. I just felt it was okay for blacks to describe me this way having been led to believe that I owed them this bit of racial jabbing because I, as a white individual, had something to do with the racism they’d experienced throughout their lives.

If the tables had been turned and a predominantly white cast and crew used such racially charged language to describe a black cast member, the Screen Actors Guild would have invaded that production and we would have seen headlines in the media “Racist Cast and Crew, Film Shut Down By SAG.”

In that film one of my scripted lines required that I use the word “nigger.” Before I shot the scene I pulled my fellow actor aside and assured him that this was not a word I took lightly and that I was aware of its historical implications towards blacks. He looked me over as if I were an alien and said “Give me a break, I don’t give shit, I’ve been a nigger all my life. I’m cool with it.” That response came to me as a mixed signal. Not one that said it was okay for me to use the word “nigger,” but one that said my efforts at trying to understand his side of race didn’t matter.

All us “white people” are now being told by the media, by former Presidents and now singer Dave Matthews that most whites have a negative racial element to their behavior, that we should monitor them and keep them in check, that our attitudes towards blacks should be sensitive. Okay, fair enough. However, lots of us so called “white people” live our lives with a sense of racial sensitivity and have for some time.

What could be helpful in having a racial dialogue would be specific feedback from the black community on what more they want us to do when it comes to understanding racism as they see it. That would be a more constructive approach to the topic than simply finger-pointing at “White America” as Dave Matthews did when he recently said this:

“Of course it is! I found there’s a fairly blatant racism in America that’s already there, and I don’t think I noticed it when I lived here as a kid. But when I went back to South Africa, and then it’s sort of thrust in your face, and then came back here — I just see it everywhere. There’s a good population of people in this country that are terrified of the president only because he’s black, even if they don’t say it. And I think a lot of them, behind closed doors, do say it.

“Maybe I’m paranoid about it, but I don’t think someone who disagreed as strongly as they do with Obama — if it was Clinton — would have stood up and screamed at him during his speech. (Shakes his head) I don’t think so.”

Where is Dave Matthews meeting these “blatant racist Americans?” Is it amongst his adoring fans, or is this just happening inside his liberal head brought on by the white guilt he cultivated living in South Africa? We disagreed with Clinton over some of his policies, we also scream at him for lying to us when we discovered he’d used the Oval Office as his own private porn booth/cigar factory.

When are those in the black community and its leaders going to address the fact that the vast majority of “white people” in this country try to do what’s right when it comes to race, that when we disagree with it doesn’t mean it has something to do with the color of someone’s skin, but may have to do with the content of the individuals character or views?

It’s time self-hating whites with big bullhorns like Jimmy Carter and Dave Matthews stop pointing the finger and start asking questions of the black community about what they’re doing to put a balanced eye on the topic, because if they are, I can’t see it.

Unqualified leadership

If Phat Joe goes and Chuene stays there is something twisted about SA’s morality - Michael Trapido

That Athletics South Africa (ASA) president Leonard Chuene is still in his job is unacceptable. Last week, writing from Atlanta in the US, and humiliated by the US TV networks’ highlights of the lies Chuene told about the gender tests conducted on 800m world champion Caster Semenya, I called for his head.

I find myself in good company. Even the Ministry of Sport called on ASA “to fire him from his position as the president of ASA”.

“If they fail to do so, they will be running the risk of being led by a liar,” deputy minister of sport Gert Oosthuizen said.

Oosthuizen, a remnant from the old Nat party and now a converted ANC member, must have had the blessing of Luthuli House to make such a statement.

That brings us to the question of leadership within the party, which has always stressed the strength and importance of its collective decision-making process.

Why then, if the party feels so strongly about ridding ASA of a lying official who has embarrassed the country, does it tolerate a total nitwit such as Julius Malema, the leader of the ANC’s Youth League?

If Malema is the best the party can offer to lead (?) its youth, then God help South Africa. What makes Malema’s position on the centre stage even more laughable, if not tragic, are his statements on the Semenya affair. This was a moment too good for the slippery tongue of Malema to ignore.

As Alex Perry, the South African-based correspondent of Time magazine, noted: “The manner in which South Africa defended Semenya only underlines how obsessed with difference the country remains.”

Perry was referring to Malema’s statement that the issue was not gender but race.

“Semenya was a victim of white officials, white media and unpatriotic white South Africans.”

Unpatriotic South Africans? Well, I for one, and I am sure I speak for the majority of white South Africans, had never heard of Semenya before the Berlin race.

The white media? Who is Malema referring to? Avusa? The Independent group? The Caxton newspapers? Media24? He has yet to specify which white media group he meant.

White officials? As far as I know only the disgraced Chuene has been exposed as the official, who single-handedly embarrassed South Africa and is probably responsible for wrecking the career of a young athlete.

Is it not ironic that Malema and Chuene’s statements sounded like an orchestrated effort to discredit white South Africans?

In the midst of the storm surrounding Semenya’s gender issue Chuene said the speculation had started in South Africa.

“I have proof of it.... We will not allow that Europeans describe our children. They are our children.”

But we now know that he is a self-confessed liar. He has no honour.

Hopefully Oosthuizen and his party will deal with Chuene. ASA has failed to do so.

But what about Malema? Can the party really afford to allow a man in their midst, who at the slightest opportunity grabs the chance to make racial accusations against people, who have not fled the country and who are keen and eager to work for the prosperity of all its peoples?

Can it really afford someone who uses his under-qualifications to speak disparagingly of rape victims to lead its youth? I am, of course, referring to Malema’s own confession that his lack of tertiary education was responsible for his alleged hate speech during an election rally where he said that President Jacob Zuma’s rape accuser “had a nice time”.

Pleading ignorance in the case, which was brought against him by the Sonke Gender Justice Network, Malema said he was a “layman” and merely quoting from a High Court judgment.

He only had a matric qualification and could not quote the judgment verbatim.

“You must know that you are talking to a layman whose highest qualification is matric, who is trying to remember a judgment which was passed three years back.”

But is this “layman” qualified to accuse innocent fellow South Africans of racism?

Is he qualified to lead the ANC Youth League? I don’t think so.

The Next Culture War in the US

By David Brooks (The New York Times)

Centuries ago, historians came up with a classic theory to explain the rise and decline of nations. The theory was that great nations start out tough-minded and energetic. Toughness and energy lead to wealth and power. Wealth and power lead to affluence and luxury. Affluence and luxury lead to decadence, corruption and decline.

“Human nature, in no form of it, could ever bear prosperity,” John Adams wrote in a letter to Thomas Jefferson, warning against the coming corruption of his country.

Yet despite its amazing wealth, the United States has generally remained immune to this cycle. American living standards surpassed European living standards as early as 1740. But in the U.S., affluence did not lead to indulgence and decline.

That’s because despite the country’s notorious materialism, there has always been a countervailing stream of sound economic values. The early settlers believed in Calvinist restraint. The pioneers volunteered for brutal hardship during their treks out west. Waves of immigrant parents worked hard and practiced self-denial so their children could succeed. Government was limited and did not protect people from the consequences of their actions, thus enforcing discipline and restraint.

When economic values did erode, the ruling establishment tried to restore balance. After the Gilded Age, Theodore Roosevelt (who ventured west to counteract the softness of his upbringing) led a crackdown on financial self-indulgence. The Protestant establishment had many failings, but it was not decadent. The old WASPs were notoriously cheap, sent their children to Spartan boarding schools, and insisted on financial sobriety.

Over the past few years, however, there clearly has been an erosion in the country’s financial values. This erosion has happened at a time when the country’s cultural monitors were busy with other things. They were off fighting a culture war about prayer in schools, “Piss Christ” and the theory of evolution. They were arguing about sex and the separation of church and state, oblivious to the large erosion of economic values happening under their feet.

Evidence of this shift in values is all around. Some of the signs are seemingly innocuous. States around the country began sponsoring lotteries: government-approved gambling that extracts its largest toll from the poor. Executives and hedge fund managers began bragging about compensation packages that would have been considered shameful a few decades before. Chain restaurants went into supersize mode, offering gigantic portions that would have been considered socially unacceptable to an earlier generation.

Other signs are bigger. As William Galston of the Brookings Institution has noted, in the three decades between 1950 and 1980, personal consumption was remarkably stable, amounting to about 62 percent of G.D.P. In the next three decades, it shot upward, reaching 70 percent of G.D.P. in 2008.

During this period, debt exploded. In 1960, Americans’ personal debt amounted to about 55 percent of national income. By 2007, Americans’ personal debt had surged to 133 percent of national income.

Over the past few months, those debt levels have begun to come down. But that doesn’t mean we’ve re-established standards of personal restraint. We’ve simply shifted from private debt to public debt. By 2019, federal debt will amount to an amazing 83 percent of G.D.P. (before counting the costs of health reform and everything else). By that year, interest payments alone on the federal debt will cost $803 billion.

These may seem like dry numbers, mostly of concern to budget wonks. But these numbers are the outward sign of a values shift. If there is to be a correction, it will require a moral and cultural movement.

Our current cultural politics are organized by the obsolete culture war, which has put secular liberals on one side and religious conservatives on the other. But the slide in economic morality afflicted Red and Blue America equally.

If there is to be a movement to restore economic values, it will have to cut across the current taxonomies. Its goal will be to make the U.S. again a producer economy, not a consumer economy. It will champion a return to financial self-restraint, large and small.

It will have to take on what you might call the lobbyist ethos — the righteous conviction held by everybody from AARP to the agribusinesses that their groups are entitled to every possible appropriation, regardless of the larger public cost. It will have to take on the self-indulgent popular demand for low taxes and high spending.

A crusade for economic self-restraint would have to rearrange the current alliances and embrace policies like energy taxes and spending cuts that are now deemed politically impossible. But this sort of moral revival is what the country actually needs.

The book details the complete and comprehensive history of the White Race, spanning 350 centuries of tumultuous events. This is their incredible story - of vast visions, empires, achievements, triumphs against staggering odds, reckless blunders, crushing defeats and stupendous struggles. Most importantly of all, revealed in this work is the one true cause of the rise and fall of the world’s greatest empires - that all civilizations rise and fall according to their racial homogeneity and nothing else - a nation can survive wars, defeats, natural catastrophes, but not racial dissolution. This is a revolutionary new view of history and of the causes of the crisis facing modern Western Civilization, which will permanently change your understanding of history, race and society.

Chapter 30 - Small Yet Significant: The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg

The Low Countries - the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg have, despite their small size, played a significant role in European and world history, the latter mainly through their colonial possessions and its after effect - the immigration of the former colonies' inhabitants into Europe.

In 1989, the World Bank report on Africa drew an astonishing comparison: it said that the entire Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of all of sub-Saharan Black Africa (which excluded the oil rich Arab states in the north and the then White ruled country of South Africa) was, at 1989 currency levels, some $116 million, or GBP411 million - a figure, the bank report went on to point out, was equivalent to the GDP of Belgium alone. (Sunday Times, 26 November 1989).

The story of these remarkable Low Countries is therefore of interest in comparative values, and, like many European countries, does much to destroy the "environmental" theory of the advancement of nations.

ANCIENT PERIOD

The area now known as the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg was, like much of ancient Europe, first occupied by Old Europeans and proto-Nordics who left basic Neolithic settlements. The region appears to have been fairly thinly populated, probably due to the low lying coastal nature of the land, which did not make it the easiest land upon which to settle.

The north-eastern part of Europe was however also occupied by the great wave of Indo-European invaders of the second millennium BC, and with these Celtic peoples, the basis was laid for the racial make-up of the peoples of that region, with only minor variations.

ROMAN OCCUPATION - CAESAR SUBJUGATES BELGAE

Roman armies, led by Julius Caesar personally, overran the Celts of north-western Europe during the 1st Century BC, subjugating all the tribes in the area, including one referred to in Roman records as the Belgae (from where the word Belgium would originate).

The Roman invasion did not substantially alter the racial make-up of the population. Most of the occupying Romans were of the same basic sub-racial stock as the Celts, although on average they were a bit shorter and a bit darker as a result of the larger number of Old Europeans who had been absorbed into the original Latini Indo-European tribe in Italy.

Under Roman rule, relative peace and prosperity prevailed for more than 250 years, and the land was slowly built up, mainly with farming.

GERMANIC INVASION - 300 AD

The north-western parts of Europe then fell prey to the new wave of Germanic invaders around 300 AD, an invasion which occurred in many Western European countries and which ultimately would see Germanics sacking Rome.

One of these tribes which maintained its identity was the Frisians, who later gave their name to a northern province of the Netherlands. Saxons invaded from the East, while the Franks invaded from the West and South.

The influx of these Germanic tribes further strengthened the Nordic racial sub-element within the population make-up.

THE NETHERLANDS

The rise of the Frankish Empire after the collapse of the Roman Empire saw Christianity being introduced - often by the sword - to the Germanic and Celtic tribes of north-eastern Europe, and in this way the area fell under the sway of the rule established by Charlemagne, King of the Franks.

After Charlemagne died his empire was divided up amongst his sons - the Netherlands became part of the middle kingdom, Lotharingia (Lorraine) and still later, in 925, part of the Holy Roman Empire.

THE VIKINGS

Frankish rule was however severely disrupted by yet another wave of invading Nordic tribes - the Viking invasions of the 8th Century saw the settlements in the Netherlands (and all along the Western European coastline) invaded and sacked by bands of Viking raiders in their longboats.

The Viking invaders left two major legacies in the Netherlands. For the first time walled and fortified cities were built, and secondly, the fairly wanton rape and pillaging by groups of Vikings added not inconsiderably to the Nordic gene pool in the area.

Finally, some less violent bands of Vikings also settled in the area, with the biggest and most formal group settling in a nearby region of France to become the Normans.

CENTER OF TRADE

The Netherlands then settled down to three centuries of relative peace, during which time the region became an important trading center, situated as it is at the crossroads of Europe.

This status as a trade nation has persisted to the present day, with the port of Rotterdam still being the single largest port in the world, handling more cargo than any other single harbor.

HABSBURG RULE

The rise of the German House of Habsburg in the 16th Century, saw virtually all the lands of the Netherlands fall under the control of the Germans, who by this stage held the crown of Spain. The Habsburg Emperor, Charles V, granted control of Spain and the Netherlands to his son, Philip II, in 1555.

FIRST DUTCH WAR OF INDEPENDENCE

Despotic rule by the Spanish King Philip II led to the first Dutch War of Independence. The conflict raged on in fits and starts for eighty years, combining with the Protestant Reformation which started at the same time - soon the war with Spain became entangled with the general Catholic/Protestant conflagration which consumed Europe.

The implementation of the Inquisition (which in the Netherlands became an attempt to suppress Protestantism) provoked further public resistance and in 1566, anti-Catholic riots broke out in many Dutch cities which saw Catholic Churches being trashed.

Philip sent Spanish troops to avenge this outrage against the Church. The harsh rule imposed by these Spanish troops resulted in further rebellion and by 1568, a state of open war existed between the Dutch and the Spanish.

PRINCE WILLIAM OF ORANGE

A leading Dutch noble, Prince William of the House of Orange, (also known as the Prince of Orange) led the revolt and soon won control of most of the northern part of the Netherlands. In 1579, the Union of Utrecht, an alliance of all northern and some southern territories, was formed with William being installed as King William I. The provinces that joined the union would become the Netherlands - those that did not would become Belgium.

In 1581, the Union of Utrecht proclaimed independence from Spain, provoking yet another furious invasion from the latter country. The war went poorly at first for the Dutch, who suffered many reverses including the murder of William in 1584. By 1585, the Spanish had reconquered practically all the south, including Antwerp.

The intervention of England however turned the tide against the Spanish. The destruction of the Spanish Armada in 1588, after it had failed to pick up a large Spanish land based army (due to Dutch rebels closing the ports under their control) dramatically weakened Spain's ability to wage war abroad. By 1600, the last Spanish troops were driven out of the Netherlands. In 1648, the Dutch and Spanish signed the Treaty of Munster, in terms of which the Netherlands became independent for the first time since the original Roman occupation.

EXPLORATION AND A WORLD EMPIRE - NEW YORK FOUNDED

Lying so close to the sea, the Dutch were masters of the waves, and their navy, both civilian and military, soon rivaled that of any other major European power. Closely following the explorations undertaken by the original Portuguese, the Dutch sent exploration and trading missions to the new world. By 1600, the first successful trading mission had been established in Indonesia in South East Asia, and the beginning was made to the creation of a massive Dutch trading and colonial empire.

Many hundreds of thousands of Dutch people left the country at the height of its colonial era: a significant amount went to America (where they founded the city of New Amsterdam. After it was lost to the English, the city was renamed New York) and a significantly large number went to South Africa, where they formed the basis for what later became known as the Boers.

The full extent of the Dutch voyages can be seen in the names given to geographic points all over the world: Spitsbergen to Cape Horn, Staten Island in Tasmania and many others.

In addition to this, the Dutch founded two companies, the Dutch East India Company and the Dutch West India Company, both of whom were empowered by the Dutch government to establish bases in Africa, America and Asia. Both companies were also given the right to wage war.

SMALL MALAY STRAIN ENTERS DUTCH POPULATION

As a result of the colonial expansion of the Dutch, a small Malay strain was introduced into the Dutch population through seamen taking Malay wives from South East Asia, and a limited importation of slaves back to the mother country. Although largely dissipated by the end of the 20th Century, signs of this racial mixing can sometimes still be seen.

WARS WITH ENGLAND - DUTCH SAIL UP THE THAMES

The sudden expansion of Dutch power following independence from Spain almost immediately caused conflict with the other European power then expanding its commercial and colonial interests in the new world - England.

Above: The Dutch war with the English: the Dutch fleet in the Thames River. The Dutch navy - a fleet born of a sea going nation - seriously challenged the might of the English fleet twice. In 1666, a massive engagement took place near the mouth of the Thames River, which saw 6,000 Englishmen killed and 23 vessels lost, for 800 Dutch dead. The next year the Dutch, under their great Admiral De Ruyter, actually sailed up the Thames as far as the town of Gravesend, destroying and burning English shipping as he went.

Two Anglo-Dutch Wars were waged during the 1650s and 1660s - during which a cheeky Dutch fleet actually sailed up the Thames River to raid England. Other wars, costly in lives and money, followed against England and France. The end result of these wars was that the Dutch lost several valuable overseas possessions to the English and were defeated on land by the French.

INDEPENDENCE LOST - NAPOLEON'S BROTHER RULES

In the late 18th Century, the unity of the Netherlands was disputed by a conflict between those wanting greater democratic reforms (inspired by events in North America and France) and those wanting to keep the old order - the groups becoming known as the Patriot Party and the House of Orange respectively.

The Orangists were supported by a Prussian invasion in 1787, but by 1795, a combination of French revolutionary troops and a council of Dutch republicans had invaded and had established a new government, known as the Batavian Republic.

The Batavian Republic existed until 1806, whereafter Napoleon occupied the country and put one of his brothers onto the vacant Dutch throne, first transforming the country into the kingdom of Holland and then in 1810 incorporating the country into the greater French Empire. While the Dutch were under French rule, the British seized Dutch colonial possessions, including the important Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.

INDEPENDENCE RESTORED

When Napoleon was finally beaten, Dutch independence was restored by the Congress of Vienna in 1815, with the territory making up the new Dutch kingdom then included that known as Belgium.

The Belgians were however a divided nation: half spoke French and half spoke a Dutch dialect, Flemish. By 1830, the Belgians had rebelled and had claimed their independence. A Dutch invasion was successful but international pressure forced both sides to accept Belgian independence in 1839.

LIBERALISM AND REFUGE - DUTCH TOLERANCE

The Netherlands had long been known for its tolerant attitude towards dissenters in Europe. Many great thinkers of the Reformation and Renaissance, when pursued by angry Catholics or Protestants, found refuge in the Netherlands - and many Spanish Jews, fleeing the Spanish Inquisition, were also given refuge in the small country.

This tradition continued through the 19th Century - social reform and democratization in the Netherlands set the pace for much of Europe, another Dutch tradition which has persisted to the present day.

WORLD WAR ONE

Remaining neutral during the First World War was a difficult task for the Netherlands. Although the land itself was not invaded, economically it suffered hardship as a result of an English blockade of Europe aimed at the Germans.

THE AFSLUITDYK

Despite the deprivations caused by the First World War, the Dutch recovered well, and continued to expand directly afterwards. By the second decade of the 20th Century the Dutch had become masters at containing the sea. Huge areas of land had even been reclaimed from the sea, leading to almost a third of the country actually being below sea level, cut off behind massive dikes for which the country has, like windmills, become famous.

Much of the land that lies below sea level is still kept dry by continuous mechanical pumping. The largest of these projects was the stunning Afsluitdyk - or "Closing Off Dike" which was finished in 1932. Cutting off a huge stretch of the North Sea, the Afsluitdyk created an inland fresh water sea known as the Issjelmeer, large parts of which were then reclaimed, an ongoing process which has lasted more than 60 years.

Above: Nowhere better is the White Dutch technological genius better illustrated than with the technological wonder of the Aflsuitdyk - or 'closing off dike'. The incredible 32.5 kilometer long dike built straight across the North Sea in just five years from 1927 to 1932, closed off an entire section of that sea and allowed massive land reclamation. Alongside, a map of the Netherlands showing the position of the Afsluitdyk (thick line).

In many ways the Afsluitdyk represents one of the greatest technological achievements of the tiny Dutch nation. It is a stunning engineering feat which has not been duplicated anywhere in the world, even by much larger powers.

WORLD WAR TWO

Although officially neutral once again during the Second World War, the Netherlands was invaded by Germany as part of that country's campaign against France, and fell under German control from 1940 to 1945.

The greatest single blow to the Netherlands occurred when the German airforce bombed the city of Rotterdam in a show of might - after that the Dutch had little choice but to surrender or face more of the same. Along with the rest of Europe, the Netherlands suffered great hardship during the war, and took several years to recover.

Also in common with many European colonial powers, the period directly after the Second World War saw colonial rebellions and independence.

The Netherlands lost a war against nationalists in Indonesia, which gained its independence in 1949. Netherlands New Guinea gained its independence in 1962 and Surinam in 1975. The Netherlands however retained an interest in the Caribbean islands of Antilles and Aruba.

After the Second World War at least 500,000 Dutch emigrated, mainly to North America, with a small but significant number going to Australia.

IMMIGRATION

Partly as a result of its colonial policies, which allowed large numbers of Indonesians, Surinamers and other South East Asians back into the Netherlands, and partly because of the generally tolerant attitude of the Dutch, the country became a focus for Third World immigration during the last part of the 20th Century. This development and its implications are overviewed in a later chapter.

THE DUTCH CONTRIBUTION

For such a small nation, the Dutch have produced a disproportionately large number of some of the leading minds of Western Europe. Notably it includes:
  • The Renaissance Humanist thinker Desiderius Erasmus had wide influence in the 16th Century;
  • The lawyer Hugo Grotius wrote tracts on law which are still standard texts in the study of local and international law to the present day;
  • The scientist Christiaan Huygens first discovered the surface markings of the planet Mars and Saturn's rings. He also established the Huygens principle governing waves and the wave nature of light;
  • Well-known Dutch artists included Rembrandt, Jan Vermeer, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen.

BELGIUM

ROMAN BELGIUM

The region known as Belgium was originally occupied by a Celtic tribe known as the Belgae, as named by the Romans when they occupied the area. The Roman region of Gallia Belgica (Belgian Gaul) included what is now Belgium, northern France, the Netherlands, and part of Switzerland.

FRANKISH RULE

Belgium's territory was then overrun by the Germanic Franks following the collapse of Rome: by the 8th Century, it formed an integral part of Charlemagne's empire, as was the case with the entire Low Country region. The fortunes of Belgium then mirrored that of the Netherlands - the two regions were physically united - until 1839, when the Belgians managed to declare themselves independent of Dutch rule.

EXPANSION AND COLONIZATION

The newly independent Belgians lost no time in catching up with the other European countries. Under the Kings Leopold I and Leopold II, the country rapidly industrialized. King Leopold II personally took possession of a stretch of Africa known as the Congo. This private property of the king was later bequeathed to the Belgian state and became known as the Belgian Congo until the 1960s, when Black nationalists seized control of the country, committing some of the most bloody anti-White atrocities in Africa.

THE FIRST AND SECOND WORLD WARS

Belgium continued to expand and grow economically until the advent of the First World War. Invaded and held by the Germans for the largest part of that conflict, many great battles of the war were fought in Flanders. The country was devastated as a result, and the situation was only slightly improved when it was given a small piece of Germany by the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 as compensation.

No sooner had the country started to recover from the First World War but it was invaded by Germany again in 1940. The new occupation lasted until 1944, when Allied troops drove out the German forces.

FLEMINGS AND WALLOONS - REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS CREATED

Belgium once again recovered after the devastation of the war, recreating the pre-war growth levels within a decade. However, rivalry between the French speaking Walloons and the Dutch dialect speaking Flemish erupted into riots during the 1960s, and as a result separate Flemish and Walloon regional governments were set up in 1974, with further regional development being implemented in 1993.

IMMIGRATION

Immigration by Third World peoples has also occurred to a significant level in Belgium: these and other related developments are reviewed in a later chapter.

LUXEMBOURG

The history of the tiny country of Luxembourg mirrored that of the Netherlands and Belgium precisely until 1867, when, a Franco-Prussian crisis as provoked by a French attempt to buy the region of Luxembourg, resulted in an international treaty guaranteeing the country's independence. Luxembourg was occupied twice by Germany in both World Wars, suffering damage as a result, but the country has been stable and one of the most prosperous small nations of the world ever since, and enjoys one of the highest standards of living in Europe.
