Truth or Fiction? Movie set, or the Future of Sea Point?

I received these in an email today and the word on the street is that this is a movie set. I don't see the obligatory big trucks, food caravans and arty loser-types hanging round, so I'm doubtful.

Nonetheless, this provides a snapshot of how the area is likely to look in the lead-up to World Cup 2010.

It has got to be a movie scene as it looks far too neat and tidy.

Looks like the set of a promotional ad.

how absurd for you to suggest it's not a movie scene. That a blue flag beach.

Come guys...what next ? Pictures of the boston sranglers murder victims claiming they happened in S.A ? wink wink.

Censorbugbear said...

I don't understand this. You guys are speaking in riddles. Please explain?

@ CB, Viking was just having a light-hearted jest at this scene which might be reminiscent of the future of Sea Point when the squatters move in.

We should be so lucky to have such tidy squatters.

Adriana what people are saying is that the scene looks suspect. It doesn't look like a squatter camp, as the are is clean and the "shacks" are in good shape. The article could possibly be an attempt at satire.

@ Rooster 5:03PM

The photo was most certainly not that of a Boston Strangler victim, because all those photos were in black and white.

Why don't you check it out for yourself?

I think that the Boston strangler story was an attempt to discredit the story.

A typical kneejerk reaction and the fact that they went as far as to arrest UG proves that they were rattled.

Their is a direct link between the placement f that photo and the arrest of UG. A reaction.

Stay out of Skaapstad. It is the next hellhole. They call it the Mother City because you wait nine months for everything. You go to a shop and you don't find what you're looking for, then the shop owner gives you this weird look on his face which, put into words, goes like this: "How can you come into my shop and ask me for something I don't have?"
Let us build a homeland for whites somewhere else, but not in the Cape.

It's neat and tidy cause the photo was taken the same day they moved in. Give them 24 hours....

Absolute not authentic . No starved dogs in sight , no masses of litter, no rusted car wrecks and the lawn looks much to neat. (no urine stains and turds)

I have also suspected that South Africa will put its "best face" forward for the Soccer World Cup complete with actually cracking down on crime to some extent perhaps even hiring outside police forces to enforce this. Because I can not imagine that they would just let the normal crime wave continue along during the event thereby bringing bad publicity to the regime & the region.

I think they will probably try to clean up their act [ so to speak - at least on the surface ] & pretend that everything is just fine while under the gaze of the foreign media. I am not saying that they will be exactly like China was during their Olympics [ where they even removed low income people from houses & bulldozed them as they were too close to the Olympic Park ] but I am sure their will be some similarities & certainly some measures taken to project a phony sanitized image to the world.

I think there will also be a lot of outside help from other countries to "spruce up" the country / mega State [ which is really numerous countries in one ] & to ensure things run smoothly because I doubt the regime would want to risk international embarrassment by showing the world how they normally are. Look for the propaganda to swing into overdrive & for the truth to be suppressed more than usual. With the eyes of the world on the region for the first time in 15 years - the supra rulers of the region region will not likely risk exposure to their project.

I have long suspected that many of the crime gangs in the townships have a lot of support from politicians and local bent cops - and that deals will be made to uphold the 'image' for the duration of the WC2010. There are just too many incidents being recorded which prove such local-level collusion. However as far as the number and training of the police - and the military - is concerned to deal with the actual daily crime situation away from the WC2010 events, I am sure that the citizens will still be carrying the full brunt of it.
What is happening now though is that local police station commanders are no longer allowed to issue any kind of crime-reports at local level - everything is channelled through the provincial police spokesmen now. That's of course a very effective way to keep the crime reports out of the news media. If it wasn't for our Facebook sites and community-crime forums making daily reports, many crime-bloggers like myself wouldn't even know about many of the criminal activities going on each day. In other words, the censorship of the SA Police about reporting crime has been considerably stepped up. Also note that it's a recorded fact that many tourists hesitate to submit crime-incidents to local police stations because they don't want to return to testify in court cases - but they do report these to their local embassies. And a quick look at the travel-advice from Western embassies reveals that many foreign citizens are being targetted by some truly horrendous crimes, everything from hijackings, kidnappings, Nigerian scam murders and rapes, robberies to the more 'petty crimes' such as being drugged at public venues and then stripped of all their belongings Particularly popular are the tourist trinkets and passports. Yet most of these incidents never make it into the news media. Which proves what I've been saying for years: censorship works. All the aNC-regime cares about is how 'good' they look in the news media while they are out there posturing away in front of the news cameras. They are such self-aggrandising peacocks that that's all they care about. They don't care that the crime gangs are stripping the citizens of the nation's wealth and its ability to continue generating wealth.

Here's one way the 'crime' will be addressed at the wC2010 - with special courts. Never mind that citizens now already spend as long as a year or more as trial-awaiting prisoners before they can get their day in courts, and that many thousands of cases are constantly being postponed every day because the court-systems are imploding slowly - the judges, magistrates and prosecutors now have to be drawn away from the regular courts during the WC2010 just like the police will be pulled off their duty stations and thus provide no protection at all for the ordinary citizens. http://censorbugbear-reports.blogspot.com/2009/11/wc2010-crime-will-get-swift-justice.html

Def a movie set. There is a neatly trimmed lawn, and we all know that in a true black area the first thing to go is the grass, the preference is bare soil.

Regarding Law and Order during WC2010...

DO NOT forget the infamous "street committees" that the ANC used to great effect starting in the 1970's to enforce their extremely unpopular vision and will on an otherwise non-compliant population. I think these marxist thugs are already ratcheting up the committee involvement - look at the recent police successes. Every one in the townships knows who the crooks are. The cops are getting info from somewhere all of a sudden. The word has definitely been put out there: "Behave between now and the end of WC2010 or we will F*** you up!!!" Some okes obviously are just not getting the message.
