Cop arrested for Dorning murder

At first I didn't even think about the policeman's moral corruption after reading the article. Moral values in the police force is the exception, rather than the rule. This is just another incident that illustrates how cheap life's become here in South Africa. And how dumb must this policeman be to get caught so easily?? It just proves how incompetent he is.

Three people, including a policeman were arrested on Saturday for the murder of a former KwaZulu-Natal government top official, Antony Dorning, police said.

Another suspect was killed when he allegedly tried to escape arrest by shooting at police, Director Phindile Radebe said.

"The provincial commissioner has commended the police for making this breakthrough. This will send a clear message to other criminals that they have nowhere to hide," she said.

The suspects were found with two cellphones belonging to the Dorning family during the arrest, she said.

"We also found three illegal firearms including the one that was used by one of the suspects to try to shoot at the police," Radebe said.

The men had been cornered by the police in Crammond area outside Pietermaritzburg, she said.

Dorning, 55, was killed when three armed men confronted him and his wife on their farm Adamshurs early this month.

Dorning, farmer and a doctor by profession, was a chief of staff in the KwaZulu-Natal premier's office and retired in July.

According to police reports at the time of the incident, a DSTV decoder, two cellphones and a video player were taken when the Dorning family was attacked. - Sapa
