Municipalities in deep shtook

I see on News24 that 64 municipal councils are in deep shite and two are already under administration. I cannot figure it out, it should be the easiest way to make money, I mean, your customers have got no friggen choice! They have got to pay you good money for the barest minimum of services. Somebody has to collect the trash, right?

Not in SA. Ask yourself the following question: A black councillor is faced with making the choice of A) Buying a BMW 750i and having 5 paid business lunches a week or B) fixing the potholes in Ntitsikakanana Ave (formerly Voortrekker street)

Which would he/ she choose?

This is actaully the answer to bringing the ANC to its knees - stop paying all utility bills / taxes to municipalities.

I doubt ANY municipality or metropolitan council will last longer than 3 months.

How will they prevent it? They can't take 15-20,000 residents to court over unpaid bills. And we know who pays the bill in SA - not Philemon in his shack drawing power from the traffic light.

If only people would stick together and do this...

South Africa is like watching an underwater implosion in slow motion. Just now (quaint SAn expression that confuses the Aussies) there will only be pieces strewn everywhere.

PS... @ Land Shark...
The whites still have too much to lose. When we FINALLY have nothing to lose we will wake up and fight. Until then we are just too damn scared of "slow puncture" to do anything at all.
