It really feels good when a story like this emerges, once in a while. A suspected hijacker mistakenly shot dead his friend during a hijacking in Umbilo, KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Saturday.
The men and two other suspected would-be hijackers, had accosted a woman who was driving on Manning Road at around 6.30pm, said Senior Superintendent Jay Naicker .
"They demanded her vehicle keys and ordered her to lie on the ground. A resident who saw what was happening came to her aid and a scuffle ensued," said Naicker.
One of the hijackers opened fire on the resident but missed. The bullet hit his 45-year-old partner in the head, fatally wounding him.
The remaining three men then fled in their vehicle leaving their dead friend behind.
No one else was injured in the incident.
Police identified the man as a wanted hijacker. Cases of attempted murder and hijacking were being investigated, said Naicker.

Lovely piece. Woke up on the wrong side of bed today, read the story, suddenly the sun is brighter, birds are chirping and the bunnies are hopping. One less sack 'o shit using up valuable air. Is good.
