Poaching: DA calls on MEC to probe 'insiders'

THE Democratic Alliance in KZN is concerned that possible “insider collusion” may be behind the sudden upsurge in rhino poaching in KZN’s game reserves and called on Conservation and Environment MEC Lydia Johnson to urgently investigate the matter.

“Either the entire Department of Conservation and Environment has gone on strike or Ezemvelo has got rid of all their game wardens,” DA KZN spokesman Radley Keys said.

Speaking at the provincial legislature debate on conservation and the environment, Keys said that by allowing the slaughter to continue, the department is threatening jobs in the tourism industry and KZN’s reputation as a world-class destination for tourists.

This is especially important with 2010 merely months away, Keys said.

“The DA calls on the MEC to pull out all the stops and institute an emergency plan to salvage these valuable attractions,” he added.

Blacks dont have compassion. They care much less for each other so what do you expect when you start talking about animals?
