You can gauge the level of sophistication and extent of progress of cultures by the music (among other things of course) developed at a particular point in their respective histories. Listen to these two examples both playing simultaneously on opposite ends of the world circa 1700s. I have listened to the Mozart vid dozens of times, it is masterful, pure enjoyment for the mind and soul but I haven't been able to stomach more than a few seconds of the banshee-like noise (that's all it is) of the tribal dance.

What is the point of comparing a one in a million genius like Mozart with ordinary people performing folk music? If I show you two videos - one with Richard Bona (an African musical genius) and another with German farmers performing out of tune German oompah music, does that prove Africans are more advanced than Europeans? No.
For that matter Western classical music is far more sophisticated than Chinese or Japanese and, knowing how much they appreciate our music, I think they would agree.
As musical composers usually have very high IQs it does question the oft-repeated assertion that E.Asians have higher IQ's than Europeans.
I think it is explained by them having a narrower range of IQ and their tendency to "group think".
The only black music I enjoy is some of the great Tamla Motown hits from the late '60's early 70's, which blacks typically deride as "whitey music" anyway.
When Australian Aboriginies were discovered by European settlers a few hundred years ago, apparantly they had not yet at that stage of their evolution made the connection between the sexual act and child birth.

When indices of underdevelopment are given, black people and countries are sure to occupy the bottom of the ladder. If we are intelligent, why do we not carry first when statistics of development are given?
Look at the African continent. South Africa is the most developed country because of the presence of whites there. This may be an uncomfortable truth for many of us but it exists nevertheless. If the whites had been driven away after independence, we would have seen a steady decline of that country.
In terms of natural endowment, Africa ought to be the richest of the continents but see the mess we have made of the potential for greatness which God in his infinite wisdom has bestowed upon us. We have proved totally incapable of harnessing the abundant natural resources to become great...
I am really pained by our gross underachievement as a race. Instead of regarding bitter truths expressed by the likes of Watson as a wake-up call for us to engage in sober reflection, we take to the expression of woolly sentiment. For me, this type of reaction is a further evidence of our unintelligence. A man of intelligence recognises genuine criticism against him and takes steps to improve himself in order to prove his critics wrong. But for us blacks, our reaction is to abuse the man who expresses worries about our backwardness.
Other races are deeply worried about us because we are a problem to the world. We suffer from the five Ds: disorderliness, debts, diseases, deaths and disasters.
It should worry us that we do not invent things. We do not go to the moon. Our societies are not well-organised. We have the shortest lifespan of all the races. Something must be wrong with us. Why are we not like others?

This is not a competition, but to say white people have contributed more to music than other races, I think is wrong.

Ok, this has degenerated into a bit of a pissing contest. I love my Jazz and my Blues, and blacks certainly have contributed to the diversity of music available out there. I suppose, from a pure technical aspect, the classical greats may have an edge, in terms of shear mastery, but, nonetheless, music is a matter of personal taste.
We're missing the point folks, the idea was to highlight the level of development of cultures at a point in time. The argument is always made that blacks were advancing on par with whites when they were so rudely interrupted by the white colonisers centuries ago and left alone would have matched European development.
What this post says is that at the precise point when the greats of European civilisation were producing immense works of art, music, etc Africans(in their PRIME) were prancing around fires chanting and painting on cave walls.
Who cares what happened afterwards? That all the races have since been able to enrich music as a whole is thanks to Europeans only and that needs to be acknowledged. We're quick to slam whitey for his ills but never thank him for his enormous contributions to mankind.

You will note, they are all of "African descent" and all 19th or 20th century. The genre was created by caucasians and carbon copied. Let's not go further with this, because I am supplying simple facts here and made to feel that I am representing them from a "white supremicist" view.

But seeing that a recurring theme in THIS blog is to try to prove that the black race is inferior, and the white race is superior, I feel that using the word "racists" about the majority of contributors here might be justified.
If there was a blog repeatedly posting info trying to prove that the white race is inferior and the black race is superior, I am sure you would feel that was racist. You know I'm right, don't even argue on that one.
I believe in equality, and I don't believe that skin color decides anything in a person's intellect and character. However I do believe that in Africa there's a culture of "you must geeeve", "blame apartheid/colonialism" and denialism. It should pain all of us that a segment of our world consistently underachieves. I would certainly rather this were not the case.
white societies are not perfect, with substance abuse, apathy, and waste almost characteristic of western countries. I often wonder what are "our" cultural values. And the answer always comes back to, a belief in stability, the rule of law, fairness and freedom. Right-thinking humans always put these things ahead of their own personal ambitions, or at least strive to, or at least CLAIM to strive to. Certainly I don't have the answers - but when I look at South Africa I think it COULD be the United States of the South, but it's being held back by something I can only call "African culture". Incidentally, the black South African i know and respect are the ones who have put the destructive aspects of their culture behind them and moved on.
