Celebrating excellence!

Southern Hemisphere Rugby Trounces North Yet Again - New York Times

Okay, I must admit it, I was in two minds to post this one. You see, I am torn between loyalties. having lived in the UK for three years tends to rub off on one, especially as my wife is British.

Hell, I'm not even a rugby lover, but there is something in that indomitable spirit of the Springboks that makes my flag spring-up and wave-in-the-wind. And strues Bob I have a long sleave Bok jersey for winter and a short sleave for summer, which I wear sparingly, always careful of being stopped in the middle of town by hand pumping, back slapping ex-pat blokes who want to shoot the breeze about old days.

There is no place for mediocrity in the Springbok Team. And despite all the political to-ing and fro-ing over the last few years (too many years as Mr Markgraaf will recall) I can confidently assert that the Springboks are still the best Rugby team on the planet (albeit by the skin of their teeth in this first test - Springboks 26 - Lions 21)

So my congratulations to the Bokke once again. You kicked Lion ass in 2007 and now you did it again!

Springboks 26

Lions 21

At least the boks didn't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Despite the best attempts of Piet 'helium' Snor at farking it up completely with the most ludicrous, ham-handed subs so early in the 2nd half. He nearly gave them the game and allowed them to gain confidence. 26 - 7 had a much better ring to it than 26 - 21.
