ANC may scrap provinces

South Africa may take many routes to Zimbabwe-dom because the ANC is determined to get there come what may. Like Mugabe, the ANC wants control of the country forever or "until Jesus comes" whichever comes first.

Smaller government the world over has shown to be more effective in service delivery - anything that brings the people closer to authorities who are in tune with people's needs works best. But the ANC's missive is not service delivery, the past 15 years proves that. It's aim is to hold onto power and the Marxist doctrine from whence this spawn of Satan originates dictates that to keep onto said power, centralise and concentrate all power into the hands of the chosen cabal.

The ANC is cognisant of the fact that the recent election was a close call. It knows it has five years left to survive with a 2/3rds majority so it needs to use this majority to remove the opposition before 2014. Having the opposition DA (led by an uppity white woman nogal) run the Western Cape effectively while the other provinces remain the retarded cousins is not something they can abide by. The bleks may be stupid but they can see their bruddas, eish, living well in the Cape. As dumb as the electorate may be to pick up on the nuances of South African politics they also know when they are being fed bullshit because they only need to peer over the wall at their neighbours in the Cape who are living better. The ANC cannot risk having their electorate make this comparison. So what to do? Remove the concept of semi-autonomous provinces and bring control under central government. That way everything is equally fucked. That's the plan. And it will be implemented.

Zille slams Shiceka's ‘do we need provinces?' statement

South Africa’s ruling ANC party is looking into
changing the country’s provincial and local government structures and may scrap its province system all together, a move some say is being done to eliminate political opposition.

Co-operative Governance Minister Sicelo Shiceka says the scrapping of South Africa’s nine provinces would be in an effort to structure local government more efficiently.

However, some provinces have become strongholds for opposition parties. This is most notably seen in the Western Cape, where the Democratic Alliance has removed ANC rule from the province. DA leader Helen Zille has shown up ANC incompetence by curtailing violent crime, lowering unemployment, and improving government services in the Western Cape.

Shiceka has been seen by some as fascist, who also came out strongly in support in the Constitution 17th Amendment Bill (which can be downloaded here), which will give the government increased powers of intervention in both provincial and local government. He adopted a strongly unitary position, saying that South Africa was one country with one President and “nobody is expected to be out of tune.”

The intentions of the 17th Amendment have been strongly questioned and opposed, particularly in Cape Town and the Western Cape. The amendment has been characterized as a means for the ANC to maintain control in areas it has lost at the ballot box.

Shiceka says a decision would be made by March next year. Legal challenges are almost certain to follow.

It's time the provinces scrapped the ANC. Helen Zille must be rubbing her hands in glee.

wasn't the ANC the one who wanted all those extra provinces in the first place?

odd that rather than emulating a successful western cape, they'd rather destroy it. TKB.
