A 47-year-old Mpumalanga teacher accused of killing a six-year-old girl for muti will have to wait until Thursday to apply for bail, Tonga police said.

Captain Amos Mashele said the teacher John Ndlovu and his co-accused Thabile Msini, 29, appeared briefly in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of murder.

They are accused of killing Dimakatso Mahlalela for muti purposes.

A post-mortem revealed that the child's intestines, her private parts, lips and some fingers had been removed.

Her body was found floating in the Nkomazi river on April 26.

The accused were remanded in police custody and would appear in court on May 7 for bail application. - Sapa
