A Layman's Understanding of IQ

The focus on IQ again, is not to make a racial supremacy point. It is to highlight the deficits in our society. Whether IQ can be enhanced or not, is not for me to answer, but to ignore the issue is to fail our country as the implications are so widespread.

There has been an underlying assumption with all my articles on IQ, and that is that we all understand what IQ is, and what the different levels mean. This assumption may be wrong. Many of you may not quite understand the implications, and because we are discussing IQ you don't want to ask. So this article will give you a brief overview.

IQ = Intelligence Quotient, and is measured as follows:

IQ = 100 x (MA / CA), where MA is Mental Age and CA is Chronological Age. Usually the CA remains 16. An average IQ, by definition, is 100.

Below you will find a table, that will help you interpret all future (and past) articles on IQ. For a better understanding, follow the link on the heading.
