FF+ politician pulverises robber

Go boerseun! Like BC says, the okie must be one tough bloke. Picture the scene, a big Dutchman panelbeating his car using Sipho's head. Always a good way to straighten a bumper. LOL. I've always said, mind the pedestrians because of the damage they may do to your car! Good to see that sometimes the good guys do come out on top.

A Gauteng politician, stuck in traffic, has beaten off an armed would-be robber by repeatedly bashing the man's head against the car frame.

Johanesburg - Robbers attacked Freedom Front Plus Gauteng leader Jaco Mulder and his colleague Theuns Botha in the Johannesburg CBD, the party said on Saturday.

They were attacked just metres away from each other while stuck in a traffic jam in Smit Street on Friday, Mulder said in a statement.

They were making their separate ways to a Super 14 rugby match at Ellis Park at the time.

"Four men appeared out of nowhere, one held a pistol against my neck and threatened to shoot me if I didn't hand over my cellphone and wallet," Mulder said.

"... I screamed at the robber, grabbed his collar, and hit his head repeatedly against the car frame, until he stopped putting up resistance."

The "bewildered" robber's accomplices grabbed him and fled when a policeman in an unmarked car next to his, got out of the vehicle and pointed his firearm at them.

Botha was not as lucky. The robbers who attacked him got away with his cellphone and wallet.

Mulder said the Gautrain roadworks, non-functional traffic lights, jay-walkers, lawless taxi drivers and absence of Johannesburg metro police were making the area a "breeding ground" for robbers

He said FF+ leader Pieter Mulder was also attacked in Bloemfontein a month ago.

"He was robbed of his cellphone and escaped unscathed, after delivering a few punches to the robber," [Jaco] Mulder said.
