What did she expect? Listen up lady, here's some clues. First: this is Africa. Things are bigger and uglier in Africa. Second: black Africans are NOT like black Americans. And no, for the last time, you are not Zulu. Third: You didn't pick white staff (or white students for that matter). Trust me, in Africa it is what keeps things ticking. Disappointed are you? Get in line sista!
American talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has broken her silence after a fresh sex scandal at her school for girls, saying she is disappointed.
Winfrey's spokesperson released a short statement after seven pupils were suspended from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Henley-on-Klip near Vereeniging."Indiscretions resulting in disciplinary action are common in schools all over the world. Unfortunately, because of my name these common infractions place the academy in the media spotlight," Winfrey said on Wednesday.
Every one of the nearly 450 pupils at the school had agreed to abide by the school's code of conduct and code of honour, she said.
"I am disappointed that several of our students chose to disregard the school's rules. It's disheartening when any student has to be suspended and it's a process that involves serious investigation and deep consideration."
Her school "will not tolerate the transgression of school policy or dishonesty", she said.
"We insist on a campus environment that strives for mutual respect and academic excellence and encourages pupils to reach their highest potential."
