By the time you read this, I'll be winging my way to Sydney to cast my vote on the 15th in Canberra - no small feat, five days away and 3000km but I honestly don't mind. I see it as my civic duty and let's just say it gladdens my heart to know that we (my wife and I) will have been among the first to cast votes against the ANC.
Folks, please note. I have checked with the hotel where I will be staying about their internet access and they say they have connection but I cannot tell how good it is at this stage. On previous occasions I have found hotel internet access to be of poor quality. I'll attempt to keep posting but I ask for your indulgence if my/our blog posts slow over this period. I and my fellow bloggers will do our best to keep posting but some of them will also be holidaying for Easter. Please indulge us this little respite. I will be back in full force on Thursday 16th April - promise, cross my heart ;)
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy, chocolate-filled and above all, safe Easter!

ALL expats who left SA due to crime MUST vote against the ANC.
It is your final revenge against the communist party that forced you to uproot your family and shlep to another country
Bravo for doing your bit.
Beware, though, the hotel I was in recently wouldn't let me on this site. It blocked it because- get this- "white power" was involved!
Needless to say I googled "black power" on the hotel pc and, of course, that wasn't blocked....
All cool at this hotel. I got online straight away, no problems. It will be slowish posting-wise for a few days guys but I'll pick up steam Thursday next week.
Great stuff Dobes. Enjoy your stay in Canberra.
As no-one knows who voted for whom, and because no-one has the ability to count all the votes, just to check, how do we know that the votes aren't being rigged at election time?
We all acknowledge how corrupt the ANC are and yet everyone thinks that somehow the voting system in SA is all above board!
How much do we really know about the IEC? How "independent" are they really?
@ TIA, the IEC is a crooked as Mandela's wrinkly old dick. Search "IEC" on our blog for past posts where the head cow of the IEC basically told Helen Zille that the expats could go eff themselves. And this also from the same crowd that allows people like Winnie who has a criminal record to stand for election which is not only against their rules but against the constitution. That answers your question right there.
Look at the expat situation. They fought it. When they lost, they knew most people could not get to the consulates so arranged no other means to vote. How hard would it have been to set up postal votes? 80000 expats applied to vote and only 16000 were approved. How much would you bet that old Sipho at the IEC didn't use a lot of those applications as wrapping paper for his KFC scraps?
The ANC going one day is not an issue, they will eventually go but like Zim they will use everything to rig the elections and the IEC will be the facilitator. Just look how they took over the NPA as soon as it became a threat. Yes, interesting times lie ahead.
Well done Dobe.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip.
dobes, the ANC will never go.
No where in Africa has a liberation movement EVER surrendered power by conceding defeat at the polls.
Commies NEVER surrender power, EVER.
mark my words.
It's a matter of choice and I respect your need to vote if you feel it will make a difference. I did it year in and year out. It never made any difference, I had to leave to make a difference in my life. This is the first year I feel compelled not to vote and I have taken the lead from Lleweyllen Kriel. I believe that a vote against the ANC only strengthens and gives credibility to their eventual, pre-destined victory. But, as I say, matter of choice.
HODD - the ANC are not commies. The big difference between SA and most other African countries is that the SA government since 1994 election has respected democracy, the rule of law and an independent judiciary. As for ex-pats I see no reason why they should even be allowed to vote. They left South Africa, but now want to affect politics of South Africa while they sit in Australia, New Zeland and elsewhere? No sirs and maams, that should not fly and if it does it shows that the ANC, whom many of you malign to no end, still gives in to white supremacy. I just got back from listening to presentations of research at Howard University. One African-American lady who specializes in South Africa, particularly the theater in SA and how plays depict political struggles, says she has been going to SA since 1997. Contrary to most of claims here, she says there are visible improvements every year.
With all I said in last posting - happy Easter or Passover - whichever one you happen to celebrate.
BC, I'm still waiting for you to get back to me on the point I made that you compare the SA of today to other African countries, whilest the rest of us here compare SA to its former self. (Before 1994!)
Do you agree to this statement of mine or not?
I really hope you are able to give a simple yes or no. It's not that hard.
For your information. The US let's its citizens outside the country vote in US elections. Once you are no longer a citizen of a country, then you can't vote in that countries elections, but whilest you are a citizen, you should be allowed to vote, even when you are out in space. That's how the western civilised world works, my ANC commie.
Hey folks, some fuckwad 'JP' has invited me to the "big time" which in his view involves him. LOL. Buddy, I shit bigger than you. We here would like to elevate our comments above petty school yard bicker that you and I both know is only intended to draw traffic to your pathetic site so therefore your comments won't be allowed unless they contain an actual point being made pertaining to a story. Ask that other fuckwad BC. End of story.
@ Vince, I appreciate your position. I agree in fact that it legitimises the ANC regime but there is no other alternative for now. I don't hold the view that everything is totally lost. Especially this election. I know it's a hopeful perhaps misguided view that things will improve there one day. But I feel better doing it, that's all - and gives me the right to complain ;)
black coffee, I did you the undeserved honour of making a post out of your reply... where I proceed to tear your reply to shreds.
somehow, we know that you will continue on your little lefty ways. So lets part ways ok?
Dobes, just read the great news about the "JP" attack. I think it is awesome - no such thing as bad publicity. It will bring more traffic to this site and the gloves are on. Let 'em keep coming. It's ass whipping time. And yes JP i may not be an intellectual, but my head is not firmly up my ass. At least i beleive in freedom of speech, and you are entitled to your blog as much as everyone else who has something to say. But if you are looking for trouble, you come to the right place ta-doo, ta-doom. I deal with your type in my personal capacity on a daily basis, and you make me very tired. You are of course aware that you are a dying breed. Break on through to the other side, remove the blinkers. All is not well in the Rainbow nation and if we sit here quietly, even you pale-face, will suffer the conseqences.P.S. thanx for drawing attention to this site. The more the merrier. Dobes the time has come to sell advertising space. Welcome to the big time, and thanx for doing your voting bit. I'm off to find the easter bunny!!! Geat f*cking blog, my friend.
Liezel - the simple answer is no. Too many people here, as at SAS, compare SA today to that of before in such a way as to glorify apartheid SA and pretend it had the golden yesteryear. It was golden only for whites, not for Coloureds, not Indians nor blacks. In many ways however, the ANC seems to have failed to deliver what people expected in 1994 and after, and here is where answer to your question can get quite complex beyond a mere yes or no. But I think many of problems have to do with too slow a transformation and with ANC bending over backwards to please whites, many of whom remain racist anyway as evident from this blog, SAS and numerous others. Read some of the comments on "City Press" by PAC members or representatives of Landless Peoples' Movement. HODD - I do not know what you posted, but I am willing to have an honest, intellectual debate with you any time.
I agree Joe, no publicity is bad publicity. I got a follow-up "threat" for the douche bag "JP" who identified himself as an advocate as if that is supposed to mean anything. He says he will proceed against us in the courts about unfair discrimination on racial grounds blag blah and the rest.. and I had to stop myself from laughing. If I had a dime for every wanker lawyer that ever threatened me I'd be a richer man.
Go for it big boy. We don't do this for profit so shutting the blog down just means we pop up elsewhere. Do your damndest. It is so typical of liberals and especially ANC ass lickers - when 'threatened' with reasoned comment, make threats. I supoose you will kill blogs for Zuma huh? I'd like to see how this plan of his pans out. The blog is American, I'm outside the country, hmm, who are you going to serve notice to big boy?
Btw, heard of freedom of speech? It's big in America, 1st amendment I think, but I'm not a gloriusly talented lawyer like you.
Buddy, come on, I recognise link baiting when I see it. Our link to your pathetic little 'article' was the only one you had. We removed it immediately to spare your site undue traffic since you took such offence. We already have your full details, photo etc and you pretty much look like your typical blog prick. Get a life big fella. We do this as fun, no financial gain so we have nothing to lose. Threatening people online is pathetic. Argue with reasoned debate, now that would get my attention but to think you can threaten us is so stupid. And you say you're an advocate? Well, looking at your style of writing I'd hate to be represented by you.
Guys, for the rest of you, I'll be a bit scarce for a few days but will be back in force by Thurdsay hopefully. That's if "JP" hasn't closed us down by then...woooooo
In defence of Doberman. The recent bizarre attack comes from an individual who masquerades as a bona fide intellectual however a cursory examination of his vitriolic verbiage yields the stereotypically socially inept megalomaniac, characterised by delusions of superior intellect, power, success, appeal, morality etc. Usually they are such a failure at normal day-to-day functionality that they become sexually aroused at the sense of empowerment the internet provides. Their reality of course is usually far more mundane, perhaps even perverse. They tend to be super hero's in their own minds, usually have never amounted to anything, have never made a meaningful contribution to anything, have a string of failed endeavours and probably lean towards paedophilia. Their ilk are usually aligned to the likes of our esteemed music Professor from UCT and Carl Niehaus. They are compulsive liars, excessively narcissistic, engage in intellectual masturbation and are afflicted with self-attribution bias. They have very little grasp of real life other than a few preposterous hypotheses and some lessons learnt from playing chess online. I imagine our pseudo-intellectual wishes he was an Advocate, yet if he had any prescience he would have realised that a coup d'oeil would not yield his membership. You see he probably didn't even go to university. This wanker is so busy stroking his own distorted Freudian Super-Ego, that it doesn't enter his thoughts that anybody can see him for the charlatan that he is. Finally, as for the hyperbolic aspersions that the tautologically defined white supremacist bloggers, are a grouping of maladjusted individuals, this is a deliberate fraud used to engender discomfort. Given that the pursuit of truth or the presentation of facts, regarding present day South Africa, would be distorted by unnecessary white noise, it is prudent to keep him blocked out.
@Dobes
I am jealous when I think of driving accross the dry Aus country-side. I hope to get to do that again one day!
Hope you all had a good easter and please try and resist the urge to vote ANC this time. I know it is extremely hard to resist Zuma's pretty smiling face of deep intelligence, honesty and above all, true African integrity!
hehehe.... :-D
@BC
Viva aparheid!! Woohoo!
Vanilla Ice, can you say that again please (last comment)? Lol
@Fisheagle. Ja, the wanker that has been giving Dobes some grief has required me to pull out the old "published in peer reviewed journals" style of writing. Sorry. I am sure he is aroused at the thought of writing a 5 page rebuttal.
Vanilla Ice, Doberman,
what did the JP guy say?
I think I've missed something...
