WTF is it now?!? Cholera in Bruma Lake!

It's the African way. What the white man buildeth, the black man breaketh. Hey, there was nothing when whitey arrived so why would blacks miss what they didn't have in the first place?

Maintenance? Wazzat..? Better to spend the money on Mercs and Beemers for the mayor and MECs. Let things break then repair at 10x the cost to maintain. The money well is bottomless. And besides, who needs clean water? Tut. Those whiteys and their "healthy" living...

A preventable event that experienced officials would have avoided but as we know, the white officials have been replaced with black AAs whose jobs are to warm chairs, collect their pay and vote ruling party at every election. Laughable really if it wasn't so sad.

Cholera in Bruma Lake caused by inner city sewerage breakdown.

I am hugely disturbed by the finding by environment consultant Paul Fairall that cholera has been found in the Jukskei river in Dewetshof in east Johannesburg.

This means that Bruma Lake is also infected with cholera as the river flows directly into it.

The root cause is the sewerage breakdown in inner city Johannesburg that is aggravated by the huge influx in population, including Zimbabwean refugees.

Existing sewerage pipes are breaking down, and repairs are slow. For instance, there is a massive sewerage leak by Nugget hill and the Ponte building. Various other leaks contribute to effluent in the storm water drains, which finds its way into the Jukskei river.

There is a shortage of about 10 000 toilets in inner city Johannesburg to cope with the population, including overcrowded office buildings converted to residential use.

Ecoli levels in the Jukskei are extremely high, but the presence of cholera is probably from the latest influx of Zimbabweans.

There is a looming health crisis unless the authorities act quickly to improve sanitation in central Johannesburg which has been shamefully neglected.

Statement issued by Jack Bloom MPL, Democratic Alliance Gauteng provincial health spokesperson.

Our water is a serious threat to all SA's. The governmunt does not see it as important and soon we will also have sinkholes, the earth can take
so much and not more. They are digging a hole for themselves.

Ironic - Barack Obamas older 1/2 brother admitted to hospital in Kenya with suspected cholera. Probably went shopping at Bruma.

While they're having 8 kids each and we're having only 2, it's obvious no matter the diseases etc. they will continue to outnumber us at an ever-increasing rate!
