South Africa`s dumbest criminal?

Woman had tik worth R2.5m Johannesburg -

A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the Cape Town International Airport for being in possession of the drug "tik" to the estimated street value of R2.5m, national police spokesperson Dennis Adriao said on Friday.

The drugs, also known as crystal meth, weighing 8.35kg were discovered by the anti-smuggling team upon searching the woman's luggage, said Adriao.

"They found a box containing plastic bags of tik." He said the South African woman from Khayelitsha boarded a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

She would appear in the Bedell Magistrate's Court on Monday, on charges of possession of narcotics, he said.

SMS IS THE NEW ACRONYM FOR SELECTIVE MEMORY SYNDROME

Tessa Beetge beats all records as SA's dumbest criminal!

See today's Sunday Times front page story about this 31 year old white woman who was duped by the wife of intelligence minister Siyabonga Cwele into being used as a cocaine mule. She was sent to Colombia and Peru on a hoax business trip by Sheryl Cwele and has been languishing in a Brazilian jail since June last year after being caught with 9kg of cocaine in her suitcase.

Tessa Beetge was a "friend" and former neighbour of Sheryl Cwele. Big Christian pals together.

Sheryl Cwele says she knows nothing about sending Beetge to Colombia on a business trip despite floods of SMSes, e-mails and prison letters exchanged between them before, during and after the balloon went up on the "business venture" and Beetge was arrested at Sao Paulo airport.

However, I'm sure Sheryl's husband's "native intelligence" will keep his wife and himself out of trouble, and Beetge firmly in prison for the rest of her life, without any chance of a reprieve on medical grounds.

Sheryl Cwele continues to enjoy her well paid position as a high ranking municipal official on the KwaZulu South Coast. Mrs Cwele seems to be having some kind of identity crisis as well as amnesia: "I'm innocent ... I wish I'd never helped her, but I trusted her and I felt sorry for her. I don't know whether I'm a stupid Christian or not."
