Man finds R1.5m in cooler box

This caught my attention for a few reasons. One, this is obviously the proceeds from crime stashed away. Two, why did the person/s who put it there not come back for it? Are they incarcerated and just waiting to collect their 'pay' when they get out (boy, will someone be disappointed)? Or is the person dead?

Three, and more importantly, where is the money now and who has custody of it? Lemme guess. It will be gone before the week is out. Remember the $16.5 stolen from an SAA plane in 2006 that went missing while in police custody? And finally, what rotten luck for the worker. Twit. Who puts a bomb six metres below ground?

Johannesburg - A construction worker found a cooler box on Monday, which he initially thought was a bomb, but actually contained R1.5m in cash, Ekhuruleni metro police said.

"The construction worker intended digging a six metre hole for a drainage system in Edenvale when he found a medium-sized cooler box buried deep down," said spokesperson Kobeli G Mokheseng.

He said the worker thought it was a bomb and alerted police.

"Officers rushed to the 10th Avenue building and opened the blue and white container that seemed to have been hidden underground for a long time.

"When the container was opened we found R50 and R20 notes to the value of about R1.5m."

He did not want to say where the money was taken to, so that the case was not jeopardised. (Ha ha. Of course...bye bye R1,5 million bucks) No arrests were made and investigations were continuing.

If it was handed over to the Edenvale SAPS, it will most certainly have disappeared. Those Edenvale cops are corrupt through and through, right down from Superintendent Fat Arse Mthembu.

Big Surprise???
