Girl saves friend, 8, from rapist

AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD King William’s Town girl being raped at knife-point in a local township might have been killed if it had not been for a motorist flagged down by her friend.

The girl, who cannot be identified, was grabbed on Tuesday while walking with her friend in the street.

The two children had been visiting a friend when the rapist approached them and promised to buy them sweets and food.

The girl’s mother yesterday said she believed her child would have been murdered if it were not for her daughter’ s little friend stopping a motorist and pleading for help.

“The children reluctantly followed the rapist along the street until he grabbed my child and ran into the bushes. All this time he had a knife.”

As the suspect attacked the little girl, her friend ran to flag down a motorist and told him what was happening . The motorist ran into the bushes and saw the man on top of the little girl.

The arrival of the motorist resulted in the attacker fleeing .
