Imagine the uproar if a white person had instigated this racial demagoguery. What he fails to mention is that much of the sub-prime debt, so-called toxic assets are comprised of tens of thousands of home loans made to blacks that were greedy, buying homes they simply could not afford. But nope. Much easier to keep hitting the "whitey-is-bad" pinhata. Up yours, el presidente and the mule you rode in on.
President Lula said it was completely unfair that the poorest people in the world were suffering most for the mistakes of wealthy, Western financiers…
President Lula, head of Brazil’s main left-wing party, said that ‘no black man or woman, no indigenous person, no poor person’ had been in any way culpable for the global banking crisis.
‘I’m not acquainted with any black banker,’ he said. ‘The part of humanity that’s responsible should pay for the crisis.’
The president of Brazil doesn’t know any black bankers? None? Not even black Citigroup Chairman Richard Parsons, the recipient of $45 billion in taxpayer bailout money?
1 Opinion(s):
not for nothing but... Parsons is not technically a banker and was not the head of Citi when most of the critical decisions were made to by subpar mortgages and CDO's. That guy was actually...white.
Now if you want a black banker to pick on you could have picked Stan O'neal from morgan stanley...but then again stan was fired for CDO's in morgans portfolio...even though they technically came in before he took the reigns as well. hmmm
so out of all the internationals banks, hedge funds and securities shops a quick google reveals very few black or brown or asian leaders.
