More anti Afrikaner sentiment

If you want proof that there is a general demonisation of the white, and in particular, the Afrikaner, read here. I wonder what those Afrikaner scumballs like Kortbroek and his bumchum, the preacher, have to say about this. No doubt, if there is an outcry, he will say he was misquoted. Yeah....

Two days before ANC President Jacob Zuma parachutes into the politically charged Eastern Cape, the organisation's Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe accused his rivals in the Congress of the People on Sunday of being paid to destroy the ruling party. Zuma is expected to address rallies in the province, for the first time since dissidents broke away to form COPE. He postponed the visit to the province two months ago apparently for fear of being booed down. The ANC's senior national executive committee leaders - including former youth league leader Fikile Mbalula - have been doing ground work in the province ahead of Zuma's visit.

The Eastern Cape is the epicentre of the breakaway, with COPE expected to give the ANC a tough contest during next year's elections. The ANC's provincial secretary Siphatho Handi was among the latest senior figures to defect to COPE. Mantashe was in East London on Sunday, where he accused founders of COPE - Mluleki George, Mosiuoa Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa - of being agents of counter-revolutionaries. "Counter-revolutionary forces have been saying that the ANC is just too strong and the ANC must be divided, weakened and defeated.

But they forget a long time ago that the opposition parties and the Afrikaners had never had the capacity to destroy the ANC and they never will.

"They have been hunting for people they can use inside the ANC, its alliances and the broad democratic movement, people who would divide this movement. "Now (ANC) volunteers must go to the people and tell them that the enemy of our people, the enemy of the freedom we fought for have now found the gang of three. That gang of three has been given a task. You see when you give people a sum of money they can do anything you tell them," said Mantashe. He urged ANC volunteers - who have been mobilised to contain dissent - to go out and "clear the misunderstandings" that had been created by COPE's formation.

Mantashe, who was accompanied by Mbalula, said the ANC would not hesitate to suspend any "dangerous" member found to be working with COPE while serving as ANC councillors. "People who are disgruntled in the ANC and they work inside the ANC they are dangerous because if you have taken a decision to work with any other party that works in opposition of the ANC it is our resolution to suspend you immediately," said Mantashe.

He urged volunteers to tell voters of the ANC's programmes and policies. "Go out and tell people that we have recommitted ourselves to have at least 60% of no-fee public schools by the end of 2009. We will extend the school feeding scheme from primary schools to secondary schools. We have recommitted ourselves to extending the social grant payouts to children up to 18-years old," said Mantashe.

Zuma will be in the province from Thursday and is expected to address rallies and meet traditional leaders and party structures in three key regions. While Zuma plans to visit the Chris Hani, OR Tambo and the Nelson Mandela regions he will, however, avoid the Amathole region, where the Luthuli House has threatened to disband disorganised structures.
