New partee iz SA Democratic Congress

Hmm, doesn't quite have a zing to it, doesn't slip off the tongue, a bit of a mouthful and shares the acronym of that guardian of democracy and virtue, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) a bunch of useless f**kwits if there ever was.

Still, anything beats having the ANC as all conquering and hearing those three initials all the time. The new lot could have called themselves SHIT, (
Shilowa and Terror - geddit?) and it would still sound better than the ANC or as I'd like to refer to them (this week, next week I'll have other names) Arseholes Needing Culling.

Update: The new party, SADC runs into a problem. There is already a party with the name SA Democratic Congress registered with the IEC. You have to laugh. Whether it's the ANC v1.0 or ANC v2.0, they couldn't organise the proverbial piss up.

Update: New party remains nameless
A breakaway faction of South Africa's ruling African National Congress is still looking for a new name for its party after discovering that its latest choice was already taken. Eish..

Update 5/11/2008: New party to be known as the South African Convention Movement (SACM).

Update 6/11/2008: Nope, let's try again. The new party is to be known as the Congress of the People. I liked the others more.

Mosiuoa Lekota has announced that the new breakaway political party will be called the South African Democratic Congress, reports Talk Radio 702.

The new party is expected to be registered with the Independent Electoral Commission today.

The party is set to be launched in the Free State on 16 December.

On the eve of the national convention, the ANC launched a bid in the Pretoria High Court for an interdict against the use of what seemed the most likely name, the SA National Congress, as well as the SA National Convention, according to Sapa.

The ANC said it was protecting its "trademark, name and identity".

Did they manage to stop them using the name SANC, weather the C stands for concress, council or convention?

If SADC is allready registered, there is little change of using the historically known UDF name?

What about just joining an existing party, like United Democratic Movement (fellow Xhoxa) or IFP or even the DA?
