Foreigners reading this blog cannot imagine the terror that ordinary South Africans face each day as they put their heads down to sleep. Any night may be their last.
This is especially true with people that live on smallholdings and farms where, literally, no one can hear you scream. Our country is under attack and there is no-one to defend us.
One small point to be made folks. When confronted with a gun, be quiet and do as you are told. It is no time to be a hero. This man might still be alive if he had kept quiet and did as the robbers said. As tragic as the event is, learn from it.

"They didn't come to steal, they came to kill," said a devastated Veronica Roach after a group of robbers murdered her husband, Rudi, 50, in the early hours of Tuesday morning on their smallholding at Kameeldrift north-east of Pretoria - for two cellphones and a few cans of beer.
Rudi was a teacher who had taught at Zwartkop High in Centurion for the past four years.
He and his wife would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in a few months.
The couple's son, Rüdiger, 16, was shot three times.
Rüdiger, a pupil at John Vorster Technical High School in Pretoria, was in a serious condition in the Montana Hospital in the city.
Died on the scene
Veronica and her daughters, Bonny Bekker, 26, and Kira Roach, 24, said two armed men burst into their home at about quarter to one in the morning and went to the couple's bedroom.
Rudi started shouting. The robbers ordered him to shut up and warned him if he made any move, they would shoot him.
"My husband shouted loudly and they started shooting. He was killed on the spot," Veronica said.
Her son emerged from his bedroom to see what the commotion was.
Veronica said she was lying on the bed. The robbers scrambled over her to get to her son.
They shot him twice in the shoulder. Rüdiger ran away.
Still in hospital
"They followed him and another bullet hit him in the back."
The family said if Rüdiger hadn't reached his parents' bedroom so quickly, something might have happened to his mother.
The robbers fled with the couple's cellphones. Later empty beer cans were found in the yard. The robbers had taken the beer from the outside fridge.
Bekker and her husband lived in a separate house on the smallholding. They heard the shots and went to investigate. "We couldn't believe that my dad had been murdered.
"We were shocked to see that my brother had also been shot. My husband and I immediately called the police and took my brother to the hospital," she said, crying. Kira was in Johannesburg when the attack occurred.

This type of crime is unheard of in the rest of the world.
It seems like senseless murder without a motive, or is the overall motive to be seen as part of a bigger picture.
Blacks are killing white males as part of a genocide against the European in Africa and saving the women for themselves for raping them in the future.
In old history, even in bible stories the one group often kills the males from another race and take the women for themselves.

Dearest Rooster .... Just for the record if "nobody lives in fear" in South Africa then can you perhaps just tell my WHY EVERYONE has electric fencing , bob-wire, massive walls , electric gates , motion detector lights and 9 times out of 10 1 to 3 dogs in and around their property. Can you also tell me why does it take the avarage South african nearly 30 minutes per night to lock themselfs up behind all the above and then start with the seceruty doors on the out side of the front doors , sliding doors, back doors , then 9 out of 10 people nowadays have a security door INSIDE their homes leading to the bedrooms , then switching on the INSIDE alarm system, etc. ??????????? You know the first 6 months we lived in the USA , I could not sleep . You know why? Because I had no BURGLAR bars , NO security doors , NO alarms to switch on !!! The way EVERY decent human being should be living . The way every child SHOULD grow up . UN- threatened . The fact is I have many friends and family still their and I am working my butt off to try and get them out of their , and when this happen like with Rudi and his family I am filled with grieve, sadness , hatered etc. NO decent person should EVER have to expereince violence in the least . Anonymous 12:17 - how safe do you think it is in US? There was a house invasion not too long ago this week in suburban Cincinnati, close to where I live. Thankfully no one got killed because the robbers got what they wanted. The difference is we don't have people who blow it out of proportion, or maybe we do but I don't know about such sites. This was a terrible, terrible crime and the perps should be punished to fullest extent. But how many S Africans go through their days and nights and do not experience any crime? See - that would put these things into perspective.

The rate of death from house invasions in SA is about 10 x that in the US. And it isn't just death they face. Females are often raped regardless of age, people are tortured brutally for hours and 9/10 times murdered. In the US, as in Aus, yes there is house invasions but the crim's intent is not to rape, torture or kill - just rob. In SA, it is all four.
Going by SAPS' own statistics you are absolutely right, there are more house invasions in SA than in US. The violent nature that accompanies these and other crimes has baffled many minds, including even Johan Burger of Institute of Security studies if I remember correctly. I believe that it goes back to culture of brutality that arose under apartheid, and not just because of police repression but also the violence that blacks perpetrated against each other at that time. Judging by age groups of those arrested the people who lead those gangs were small to pre-teenage children during those years - 1980s. Thus they were exposed to a lot of violence at a young age. Not only police and army repression, but also things like ANC supporters versus suspected informants, Inkatha versus non-Inkatha, etc. In fact one of my interviewees in SA, a black man, pointed out that the TRC did not deal with black-on-black violence when it held its hearings. I have pointed this out on SAS, and it is not an attempt to apologize for any criminal, but rather to understand why there is so much violence in SA. That said, and without offending any victims or their families, are there not people in SA who have not experienced crime? Before I went and spent time there I thought crime lurks at every corner. I found that it, of course, does not. One final thought - the elaborate security systems that I saw in such Johannesburg areas like Sandton, Rosebank, etc. - I see the necessity but I also thought then and now that it may put resident at disadvantage. If attackers get in it makes it harder for residents to escape and makes it difficult if not impossible for neighbors, possible witnesses, to see what is going on.
I also know the family and this is such a terrible act. Veronica and her family were some of the most welcoming and wonderful people I have ever met, not just in South Africa. But they would not want people to think that the 'blacks are evil' as some racist people have commented. Both Veronica and her husband teach/ taught at schools for black children, and loved their jobs. They know that it is the evil minority that give the majority a bad name, and it is not fair to judge people as a whole. I live in the UK, where this kind of thing is barely heard of, but I know, even living in a barely christian country, that we cannot judge because it is not our job. I send all of my thoughts to the Roach family, and am in constant communication with them. Do not condem all balcks, you then become as bad and as prejudiced as they are. If we learn to accept that colour has nothing to do with your inate personality, then we can speed up the chance to solve racially agrevated crimes.

I also read that the blog said "REVERSED racism " . I have to agree. I have lived in the UK , Australia AND the US and I am originally from Capetown and I can tell you this ... NOT ONE PERSON of color in ANY other country that i have worked with , for , befriended or encountered had such a Blood thirst as the blacks of South Africa . There are a few that I would be honored if they were my friends or shared my dinner table with or concidered as part of my FAMILY because they helped raised me and my siblings , but unfortunately there are 10 blood thirsty idiots for every one of the good ones in SA and even more so with the immigrants coming over the borders from other blood thirsty countries. It is very true to say that we have not seen the whites rape,their wives or daughters or mothers ( My MOTHER was raped by one of those blacks and left for dead!! I am terribly sorry to hear that, and obviously you have had some terrible life experiences.
I don't want to doubt anything you say, but I think it is important to stress the fact that Veronica Roach works in an all black school, and clearly does nto agree with some of your statistics. The percentage of black people in England is far less than South Africa, and I am 100% certain that there are many despicable characters (whether white or black) in all parts of the world. With tensions such as they are chances are that there is a higher percentage or evil people in South Africa, or rather people who are driven to evil acts rather than are inately evil.
I do not believe that it is someone's skin colour, race or religion that makes someone evil. I believe that it is either within them at birth or they are 'driven' to it by acts that they believe justify them to do some evil(although I do not in any way condone this behaviour).
Much as I am sorry this has clearly stirred up your passion, I do not believ that calling me ignorant will help. We should not be fighting against different solutions but working towards the best possible solution.
Racism is a topic that is strongly dealt with in the UK, as I presume you are aware. If the same policies were adopted, although obviosuly not fully possible in a country such as South Africa, then maybe you would see such a sudden decline in racially aggravated crime as seen in the UK.
Just to clarify, we have horrific crimes in the UK that affect us all as well, and I am not writing this as fully ignorant as to th e horrors of such disgusting acts.

I'm a white guy. I'm proudly Boer and NON-racist. I (genuinely) have quite a few black friends. That won't mean shit when these kind of thugs attack me. As white people, we are marked out. Sooner or later we are going to have to react to prevent our extermination (which is what it will be, to these blood-crazy thugs). Then there will be a race war in South Africa. And I will find myself fighting alongside people I don't like, against friends - because of the colour of our skins. This is ridiculous. Why on earth did we hand power over in the way that we did?

Or my personal experience: white guy tried to mug me for my cellphone near my home. I showed him my knife, right up close to his eye, and told him to get out of the area. Worked quite nicely. The black people in the area are just working there.
Having said all I have, I am a white guy and a Boer. I will side with my people when it comes to that. I just wish it wasn't needed.

Not every white is your friend, and not every black is your enemy - but we have a political class, black and white, determined to split us along racial lines and yes, if that day comes that war is inevitable, we must side with our colour which is tragic because it means we have gone backwards from 1994 - when again shows the ANC has been far worse than the Nats at preserving racial harmony.
