Two black cops sentenced to long jail terms

Compare the miniscule amounts these two cops stole with the hundreds of millions embezzled by the ANC big wigs.

These two get nine ½ years each and the ANC elite are either not prosecuted or if convicted are given sweet deals or let out early.

The constitution says we are all equal under the law but some are clearly more equal.

Two former black police captains from the Westonaria police branch were sentenced this week each to an effective nine-and-a-half years in jail for theft and corruption.

D.G. Mogotlane and T.S. Muthige were discharged from the police in February after they were found guilty. Both had belonged to the West Rand crime intelligence unit.

Their application for leave to appeal was summarily dismissed. They were arrested in July of 2004 when an informant complained about his payments for information.

Members of the West Rand crime intelligence unit began an internal investigation and established that the two captains had on several occasions pocketed money which was intended for informants.

In February 2004, just R700 of R1500 was paid over to the informant. Three months later, the men pocketed R5000 of a R15000 amount.

They were each sentenced to six-and-a-half years in jail on two charges of theft and three years on one charge of corruption.

Police spokesperson Insp. Sanku Tsunke said the police would not hesitate to act against its own members. (how about acting against the members of the corrupt ANC leadership?)

Should have worked with bigger amounts like their police chief.
