Kollapen: We are no safer

In the previous post we have a lying gubbermunt munista singing from the same bullshit hymn sheet about crime. How do I know he is lying? He opened his mouth.

One of the other speakers at the same conference is the head of the toothless SAHRC who puts a more realistic spin on the situation in SA. Who would you believe?

Kollapen said even though government spending on crime had gone up..."we are no safer".

Which is it, Charlie? If what you say is true, you and your buddies in parleymunt must drop the bodyguards and flashy black car convoys since everything is much improved. Y’know, live like the rest of us plebs.

We have a better chance of seeing pigs fly.

Crime is threatening South Africa and is "balkanising" society, SA Human Rights Commission chairperson Jody Kollapen told an anti-crime conference on Monday.

People were cutting themselves off from each other and even humanitarian instincts like stopping to help someone in distress were moderated by fear of crime, he said.

"That's not the kind of people we want to be," Kollapen said, addressing the Action for a Safe South Africa Convention in Midrand.

The convention hoped to explore ways of making the country safer and getting everyone to contribute to this in their daily lives.

Kollapen said even though government spending on crime had gone up 1 500% from 1990 to R68bn at present, "we are no safer".

South Africa's legacy of dysfunctionality had to be recognised in finding a solution, but at the same time the country also had a history of overcoming formidable obstacles.

"We now stand as a nation where our self-determination stands in the balance," he said.

Everybody needed to ask themselves what they could do to bring the country in line with the Bill of Rights guidelines on security, Kollapen said.

Ruling party president Jacob Zuma, who was expected to address the convention, would no longer be attending.
