Doctors, nurses in murder probe

Murdered in Hospital by caregivers.

We have all seen the decline of standards in our once pristine health services. But to be murdered by hospital staff is a new low.

Doctors, nurses in murder probe

Acornhoek - Police are investigating murder charges against staff members at Mpumalanga's notorious Tintswalo hospital.

Acornhoek police spokesperson Inspector Joseph Mokagane said a murder investigation was launched on Thursday after both doctors and nurses were caught lying about how Dingaan Mnisi died.

They initially insisted that the 54-year-old father of eight died of natural causes after being admitted with diarrhea - but could not explain a deep gash over his right eye or other head injuries.

Tintswalo spokesperson Elphus Mathole only grudgingly agreed on Friday that authorities were being forced to change the death certificate to indicate that Mnisi died of head injuries and a brain hemorrhage after his grieving family paid for a private post mortem.

The family had to ask for community donations to pay for the post mortem.
Mnisi's son, Oris, says that what scares the family most is that they would have been oblivious to the real causes of death if they hadn't insisted on seeing the body to say farewell.
