Biting the hand that feeds you

This is Africa, sit on your fat arse and demand.

Don`t let the fact that you are an illegal alien phase you. Demand.. and if that fails...destroy

Chaos erupted at Glenanda refugee camp south of Johannesburg earlier today when police clashed with an angry mob.

10 people were arrested at the camp. Police used rubber bullets to disperse the group, who held four security guards hostage.

Police spokesperson, Lungelo Dlamini says police were called in this morning after residents of the camp took four security guards hostage.

The displaced people were angry about not being consulted on security measures at the camp and it soon turned into violence and police were called to calm the situation.

Tensions have been simmering for some time after foreign nationals had to flee xenophobic attacks almost two months ago and they say that they do not want to live like this for much longer.

'They will let children starve'

Pretoria - The South African government and its people want to kill them so they refuse to accept any help from the government, say about 1 200 displaced foreigners in a camp near Klerksoord north of Pretoria.

These people decided to go on a hunger strike "until the United Nations comes to our rescue", said one of them.

They also were refusing food aid from South African welfare organisations.

Some of the food that was brought to the camp was thrown on a heap by the foreigners from countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Burundi.

One woman said she was prepared even to let her baby starve, but there was no way that she would eat. Not until the UN helped them.

The foreigners said their camp, which had two marquee tents and 12 army tents, was not fit even for dogs.

Ten people have been arrested during a stone-throwing incident at the Glenanda camp for xenophobia victims, Johannesburg police said on Thursday.

Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini said people at the camp on Rifle Range Road -- housing victims of xenophobic attacks that took place earlier this year -- stopped security guards from leaving their office on Wednesday night.

He said residents of the camp were not happy, for reasons still unknown, with the arrival of four guards on Wednesday night.

He said the guards were prevented from leaving their office overnight. When police arrived and freed them around 9am, residents began throwing stones.

The police fired rubber bullets. Seven women and three men were arrested for public violence.

“Police are still there... the situation is tense. We will remain there until everything goes back to normal,” said Dlamini.
