Residents say ‘no’ to foreign nationals.

Residents of Ramaphosa informal settlement near Boksburg have vowed not to allow foreign nationals back into their community, saying they are afraid of being killed.

“We do not want them in our community,” said a ward committee representative David Tjetjane. “No matter what the government says, the community will not accept them back.

“These people killed our brothers. What stops them from doing it again? If we allow them back into our community, nobody will be safe.

“The government must understand that the situation in Ramaphosa is completely different from what happened in Alexandra and Diepsloot.

“In Ramaphosa it was the foreigners who attacked local people.

They demanded that we vacate our houses for them. So how can we allow people like that back into our community?”

Safety and Security spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi said the government planned to return foreign nationals to their former communities.
